Fortunately it has Airtop rear air suspension, with a suggestion to pump it up to 4 bar as the rear axle max is 3500kg - have you fitted those wheel / caster things to the overhanging chassis to help with possible grounding?

I'm hoping the letter from Hymer will enable me to register it in the UK at the higher weight; avoiding any SVTech charges.

The previous owner left a weigh bridge ticket that shows the payload as 820kg with all tanks 90% full.

I've checked with SVTech and it can be updated by 200kg with no changes to the van.

The helpful people at Hymer Germany I hope will send me a letter confirming it can be updated from 5300kg to 5500kg so my payload will move upto 1020kg.
If it’s any help, our S800 has rear air suspension, Goldschmitt levellers and satellite system. It’s plated at 5300kg so we loaded up for a 2 month trip, filled with diesel and water, 2 dogs and all their food and went to a weighbridge. We tipped the scales at 5250kg, so just be careful.

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes and congrats. I’d lost this thread...still finding my way around the new site!

We’ve been busy making some “essential” purchases...I’ve gone for new bedding and cushions... Mr Mousy has got a spare wheel and tyre...I’m not taking the blame for any payload issues :D

Have stripped out the old van and made it spick and span, very strange seeing it empty, it’s also amazing how much stuff we end up carting around!

Congrats on the new van but please don’t attempt to add anything to the chassis to help grounding. It doesn’t help; it makes it worse.
How so? Anything you add lowers the ground clearance and increases the risk, and hence frequency, of grounding out.
Folks think that it helps but it doesn’t - it may mean that less noise is made but it’ll be grounding out when otherwise it would not have. You will only increase the frequency of grounding and the magnitude of the forces experienced.

It looks as though it would be your towbar that would ground out so I’d leave well alone.
