Hi I.have a freestanding solar panel, the controller is on the back of the panel, is it waterproof? Should I bring it in when it rains?

If you keep the solar part facing up the underneath should keep dry. (y)
As solar panels are predominantly used outside I would expect the controller to be reasonably waterproof..it will still work if it rains but not to full capacity.

See if there is an 'IP number' marked on it somewhere. For example IP44. The second number gives the resistance to liquids. IP44 is weatherproof - resistant to splashes and rain but not hose jets or immersion. The full list can be Googled. (IP = Ingress Protection).

The solar panel MC4 connectors are rated IP68, and are proofed against immersion.
