I want an instantaneous water heater, for a shower a day and the washing up. Seen lots of lpg ones for outside use i could mount externally. Has anyone used an electric one? What kind of juice do they demand... Thanks

My home electric shower is 10.5 kilowatt or five times the power of a fan heater !!!
So lots of juice needed I would have thought

10.5kw equals 875amps through an inverter.

Definately not viable on hookup or inverter.

But i read that they are for statics only? Im not going to ever use it whilst in transit, but curious as to why it stated that?

Don't think your going to get the water flow using a 12V pump with an 11LTRS per minute boiler.
The 6L gas boilers are ok for showers and doing the dishes etc
The newer boilers don't have a permanent pilot light where as the older types had a permanent pilot light flame.
I've used the Morco D61E on several occassions. They are good.
Forcali seem popular.
You can't put them in a shower cubicle { lack of air to breathe } and you need a through roof class 1 flue with adequate ventilation. You can cut the flue down a bit so it's not too high { like Stevenson's Rocket }

all those flueless instantaneous heater are out door use only if you wanted to use one it needs to go in a floor to roof sealed duct with a sealed door of panel for access.,Top and bottom of the duct would be open with no mesh in the ventilation there is info available to size the ventilation it would be totally illegal as i doubt any of these heaters carry a valid ce mark and would probably invalidate insurance i case of a fire

You might be better off using a hot storage tank with a low wattage heater element , backed up by a normal moho gas water heater . You can even plumb so that engine heats while you drive (calorifier). With decent amount of solar you shouldn't need that much gas , even when not doing much driving .

I have never seen it in print but I believe that gas is far more effective and economical than electricity.
Try comparing gas with electricity when heating a van with one of the usual fitted units, gas wins every time.

I think anything that gives instant heat or instant hot water will be heavy on either gas or electric.
I just leave my boiler on hot water all the time in the winter that way I have hot water on demand. And it stops any boiler or pipe freezing issue.
Doesn't use a lot of gas either

My Set up in My box van is an insulated 900W Propex 10L 240V water heater that I will run using an inverter for 15 minutes if off grid and all the time if on hook up.
Truma also sell an insulated 900W 14L Elektro boiler same as above.
ie, no gas.
If you have a decent solar set up which I am sure that you will have this is an inexpensive way of providing pre-heated hot water.for showering etc

But don't get much solar in the uk at this time of year. Regardless of how many panels etc if there ain't no sun
