Hi...Having a little issue with my water system, basically I ran out of water and I'm not certain but its possible I have drawn air into the system, I say this because now I filled the tank again although some water comes through all taps when turned on, most seems to be coming straight out of an overflow ? pipe under the vehicle...this keeps running until tank is empty with taps on or off !...can anyone advice regarding this please ?

Thank you.

Do you have a dump facility on the fresh water and if so have you accidentally switched it to dump?

Oh, welcome to the site!

I'm sure someone will be along with other suggestions...

Hi Milliethehymer....I must own up to been a total novice and new to this way of living...love it but as you can probably see I'm a bit out of depth with all the workings !....dump facility switch would be located where please...I haven't switched anything on purpose ...and I cant see an actual switch....the tank has a little white handle at the base which I assume would dump my water if required ?

The overflow pipe could be the safety valve on the boiler that will trip if the temperature drops below 4degrees. Have a look at resetting it

Not sure as it will differ on various vans...sorry. On mine it dumps down to 20l for travelling and not everything, but different manufacturers do different things. Might be worth seeing if the handle you mentioned moves and what happens to the water when you do.

Guess you've already googled it to see if there's anything on the manufacturers site?

Agree with @Stealaway thoughts too but don't think it's been that cold to put the boiler into auto empty/frost mode, especially if you're in the van.

If you post details make model year of van someone else with the same van might be able to give the definitive answer.

If you look for the pipe underneath which is dumping the water ... then the valve will be on the floor inside the moho, just above this pipe.

You appear to have used all your free posts on the forum ... I'm sure you would find spending £15 for a subscription to be good value.

Welcome. Already the best £15 you have spent for a while!

Now to make sure it does not happen again you need to keep your van at a temperature a few degrees above freezing all the time you have water in the system. So keep the heater on background heat even when you are out.

Glad it's sorted, in my (limited) experience most things like this are easy to sort once you know how. It's knowing how that's the problem - but by joining this site you've now got access to literally thousands of man (and woman) hours of experience.

It's the best £15 investment I've ever made!
