Hi guys a quick question regarding my Shaw flow water pump it keeps cutting in and throw a few seconds without the tip being run as if to re-pressurise the system I haven’t found any evidence of any leaking anywhere and I have fitted an accumulator but this doesn’t appear to have any effect any help would be appreciated thanks advance for any replies

Do you have a plastic cap with a filter fitted?
Mine was clogged up which affected the performance of the pump. just a case of unscrewing it (it may have a little water in it) and cleaning it out.
Other than that, you may have a leak somewhere.

If it happens frequently, say every 10 mins or so I would suspect a leak even though you cannot or havn't as yet found one. If it's just for a few seconds over several hours it could be you have a tap that has a slight drip or is not properly turned off such that you wouldn't notice with a quick look. Can I suggest that you dry your sinks thoroughly, make sure the taps are turned off completely the place several sheets to kitchen or toilet roll beneath the tap, if you go back several hours later and have damp paper that may be a clue. If the paper is dry and after a thorough search you cannot find as leak I would think the rubber diaphragm in the pump is knackered and the easy thing to do is simply replace the pump. They now do a pump with four chambers instead of the older one with three and say it gives a more consistent flow, might be worth an upgrade,

Could be the pressure switch Which is adjustable if my memory serves me right, I would take the whole unit apart and give it a good clean.

I think there is a non-return valve built into the pump which may be faulty or partly blocked allowing water to feed back into the tank.

Thanks for your replies guys, will check for non return valve, can’t find find any leaks anywhere.
Pump starts for no reason for a few seconds as if to repressurise the system, a bit of a pain in middle of the night

Multiple possible causes.
1) Leak
2) non return valve not fully sealing or missing. (depends on pump make/type)
3) dump valve not fully sealing.
4) tap not fully off, or dripping.
