Hi

I’m just getting everything ready for our first weekend away and cleaning the water system and have noticed a small leak when the pump us running. It looks to be coming from the join between the outgoing pipe and the pump itself (blue pipe). Does anyone have any experience with sealing the joint and what’s best to use?

Thanks in advance

Mike

A photo would help.
If the pipes are flexible hose tighten up the clip or fit a new one.
If the pipes are semi-rigid with push connectors try taking the joint off and refitting, if that doesn't work replace the joint.

As Lenny HB said , remove the black connector and refit . Mine did the same when I fired the pump up for the first time this year 👍🏻

It’s the pipe to the right with the white connector going into the pump. Thanks!

It's come apart, pull it apart and clean it, then put it back together.

It may just need tightened or resealed but it may have a small crack somewhere if any water in has frozen in it over winter.

It’s the pipe to the right with the white connector going into the pump. Thanks!
Turn off the pump and open a tap.
Push the red ring on the white connector while pulling the blue pipe
That will release the pipe.
Cut off 1" of pipe and push ALL THE WAY back in past the initial resistance.
Turn on pump and close tap.

Lenny is correct, the red bit is a locking ring... Remove then push in the white/translucent ring.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I’ve re-sealed the joint but it turns out it’s the seal between the pump and the housing. On the picture, it’s the join between the two black plastic bits that are screwed together. I’m hoping that it’s just dried out over winter and the weeping (both water and myself) will stop. If not, I guess it’ll need stripping down and some kind of sealant or replacing.

Exactly the same as my pump, and my leak. Took pump out, undid the screws joining the two black parts together (some are threaded through to hold assembly to motor). Cleaned it all, gave it a smear of sealant, reassembled, then refitted. All good.

PTFE tape on the thread will solve that. Usually from the factory they don't use any tape, i ALWAYS take them off and PTFE these joints, i have many on them on my Aquarium water system at home and from experience they can be a bit of a pain. Don't be tempted to just over tighten them...
