Just got back from a long weekend Whitby weekender/Scarborough coast and the Shurflo trail king 7 water pump has been getting worse, started with air in system every now and then and thumping sound to constantly purring when no water in use to the point we had to turn pump off at night so we could sleep.
So today I took the pump out and had a look, first thing I noticed was water staining around the pump and a dribble of water on the pump, thought to my self the screws need nipping up, stripped it apart to clean the mating faces and put it all back together and back in.
It wouldn't pump just kept popping and gurgling but no flow, panic mode assumed and started to price up new pump head/diaphragm kit, then thought lets have another look, took it out again and on closer inspection I found small bits of black plastic, hard to see in the slots in the diaphragm housing, I gave the complete head unit a thorough clean especially the diaphragms and popped it all back together and in and after it had bled itself it is working fine and no leaks and it shuts off when pressure it up.
Whether this is a pre-warning that something is amiss we shall wait and see, parts aren't too dear and a new pump is about £50/£60 but happy days its all systems go again
