Hi all me again Brian.
Peugeot boxer 2. hdi 2005 auto cruise starfire water pump unit is a posiflo model 3000-151-2201
The problem is the pump sometimes switches itself on without the tap switched on.
This van I am sure does not have switches behind any taps so works on difference in pressure etc.
There is square area on the top of the pump with a screw I think this changes the amount of flow any help appreciated thank you.

It sounds like you have a minor leak somewhere in the system or a faulty non return valve on the pump.

PS or a dripping tap

Plastic pipes as they warm up, expand slightly, enough on a previous van to occasionally allow the pump to switch on.

We had the same pump in our Swift, and the same symptoms, the pump ran for a second every couple of hours or so. No leaks in the system, so took the pump out and stripped it down. I could see no evidence of any leaks internally so cleaned it up and put it back together.
Still ran intermittently and got more frequent so I changed it for a Shurflo pump and had no more phantom pump running.
