Morning all. Couple of quick questions. Met a chap who lives in his motorhome. He told me that he doesn't leave his water heater on all the time just switches it on half an hour before he wants to use it?
Secondly, when I put my hot water tap on the water has started pulsating?

I only heat water when we need it. Otherwise I’m working the boiler and shortening it’s life. It isn’t as robust as your house boiler, and doesn’t retain the heat like your house system.

Our hot water we set the time for it to come on for an 1½ hours in the morning for our shower. Boil a kettle for anything else don't like wasting gas.

Water pump pulsing ether the pressure switch need adjusting or you have a leak. Leak can be so slight it will let air in but no water coming out.

I have my water and heating on all the time that I'm in the van. Never noticed how much gas it uses but would suggest that it's insignificant. Refillable LPG is cheap gas anyway. I drop the thermostat in Summer, to stop the heating coming on on cold mornings but otherwise it just looks after itself.
If you want to keep switching it on & off, you'll use slightly less gas but will need to plan well or wait patiently when you want hot water.

Does the pump pulsate on cold as well?
Is the pump control from microswitched taps or a pressure switch?

The pump should pulse if the tap you're using isn't fully open. If it pulses when the tap is fully open simply turn up the pressure adjustment until it just stops doing it.

Water heater goes on when needed. Is it only the hot water that is pulsing?

Hi everyone. Thank you for your replies. Pump pulsating on hot and cold. Your talking abt pressure switches? Where are they and if I can find it which way to turn??. Its a new pump fitted at modbury site end of May?

The pressure switch is on the end of the pump. Post a photo of the end of the pump if you're uncertain.

I switch our water heater on for 15 minutes on gas and the temperature is just right for showering without mixing the cold water in 😎

Pulsating pumps are not uncommon and sometimes not adjustable.
If it really annoys you, you could get an accumulator fitted to smooth it out.

I assume that the new pump just hasn’t been correctly setup for your van.
