Hi all.

So everything was working fine until last evening when we found the leisure battery was empty. It had emptied during the day even no one was in the van.

So we plugged into 220v and when we turned the tap on no water was coming through the tap but straight out of the overflow? The water tank was 75%full

Maybe these two changes are coincidental?

Does anyone have an idea why the water would go to the overflow?

Thanks
Elli

Check the frost valve next to your water tank has not opened because the temperature has dropped.
OK, thank you. We are in Spain so temperature are still above 17 by night. I will try and see if I can see that valve

It is simple to reset, check your handbook as to where it is and how to reset it. I have been there and done that.

Is your waste water tank full and overflowing? Or the valve open on the waste tank? The know that may be a bit ‘Janet & John’ but….

Good to know. Our van is 28years old and the handbook is in German. What is the name of the part/switch and maybe I can see if its online?

Waste tank I can say is definitely not full. It was emptied last 2 days ago. I will look on by the waste valve too, thanks

Thinking about this, if the automatic drain is open then when you turn the tap on it will allow air into the system and help the water out, can you hear the water pump start up or not?

When the tap is opened the pump starts everything. This is a photo of what is next to the boiler. On off switch works but no moment from yellow button

Also, we have detached the 220v and tested the habitation battery. Only reading 11.5v. Looks a bit old so we'll replace that. So, we will be on hook up until battery is changed

Hi all. Well we have fitted a new battery and the water is still pouring out under the van when the tap is opened. Does anyone know if it is necessary to reset the frost valve or if there is a specific fuse for this that I could check please?

Thanks

Ellie

We have tried and tried to pull it and push it down but there is no movement either way.....

In my Weinsberg there are two drain valves under the sink that look very much like the two clear plastic knobs attached to the clear pipe and red pipe just to the left of the hot air joint in your picture. They may be in the open position. Try turning to shut them. On mine they are the final drain point so if open would let water pump straight through.

My recollection from one of my earlier motorhomes was that the frost valve was only held closed by the 12V power supply. If the power failed the frost valve opened, whatever the temperature and the hot water tank emptied. When 12V power was restored and the pump activated the water would first fill the hot water tank and then pump out through the open valve. This was exactly the same problem as describe by the op at #1.

There is a picture of the frost valve at #15, it should be found next to the boiler/hot water tank. The red (or yellow?) button has to be lifted to reset the valve to closed. I seem to recall that it could be very stiff and didn’t always stay reset. My one ended up having to be held lifted (closed) by slipping a peg under the knob. Not a good idea if a frost is likely and it must be removed for the winter drain down.

OK, so update. It's working!!!!!!! I bought a new 12v tester. Tested and there was power so turned on boiler and that was working. Turned boiler off and turned the tap on and pushed the yellow button down and held it. The water stopped running out under the van and started coming through the tap...success. The yellow button won't stay down so I have cabled tied it as we are in Spain so it won't be cold and the battery in new so that should be fine. We will take out the valve when we have more time and take it apart to see if we can or it or need to replace it. We would just like to a say a big thanks for all your help and ideas....it has been a huge help to sort this problem. Much appreciated
