Washing your motorhome (1 Viewer)

Hi.
Looking at some ideas for washing my motorhome away from home.
Was thinking an external water outlet to plug my hose in and use one of those water saving brushes. Can't find anything like a water outlet on the internet. Any ideas anyone thanks?

When away from home I use Greased Lightning Showroom Shine Waterless Wash & Wax Car Cleaner.
Does exactly what it says. There's no need to wash your car first, just spray on, wipe with one microfibre cloth to remove the dirt and use another microfibre cloth to buff to shine.

Not on the MH yet but got some ready when it needs it (dealer washed it twice for me when it went back for some tweaking)

I always keep the motorhome waxed with Collonite 476 so it rarely gets in a filthy state, one bottle will clean about 3 or 4 washes.

Motorhomes collet many abrasives on their plastic windows and on their bodywork during their travels such as road grit so its normally best to wait until you get home and wash them off with lots of running water and a good motorhome cleaner.

I agree with that.
When I see all the grit and sandy muck that comes off my van when we get home from a trip I definitely wouldn't want to be rubbing that into the gloss finish.
A bit like cleaning the van with sand paper IMHO.

Lots of water and a decent shampoo for me...............and the van.

It still amazes me the amount of sand and grit that settles on the roof after it’s washed and just parked on the drive at home.

I only use waterless wash and wax if the van is only slightly dirty. Otherwise I get the big brush off the scooter rack and do it properly

Had one stolen once in Spain so now I've got a big padlock holding it on

With a good coating of Collinite 476 (it usually lasts a year) before going on a long trip, the "grit and sandy muck" never gets chance to build up or settle on the bodywork, with a quick occasional application of the waterless wash n wax to bring it back to a great shine and further protection and doesn't scratch the paintwork.

I just let mine get dirty when away!

But I confess to washing it a few times. A site in Italy had a MH washing point and in France you can find them very occasionally at supermarket car washes.

Otherwise, a bucket and a long handled brush works well, especially for the front of the vehicle to remove flies.

Beware if you are parked on a Caravan club site - they don’t allow you to wash your van on your pitch.

I fitted a shower in the garage for filling the washing machine, I could easily put a longer hose on it if I ever got that desperate.
Alternatively I could go against my principles and use one of the many sites with a Motorhome/caravan washing bay.

Yep. If the Caravan & Motorhome Club listed what they actually did allow on their sites they'd save a huge amount of paper as the list will be a lot shorter.
