I may be preaching to the converted, but I don’t like using a tea towel to dry the washing up. I prefer to rinse in very hot water after washing and leaving to air dry. Not having a double sink in the van, I have been trying to find a way to do this - no room for two bowls or wanting to use too much water.
A neighbour passed on this tip, picked up from staying with a relative in Cyprus where water is scarce:

put the washing up liquid on the sponge and wash dishes with that and then rinse in clean water. As I wipe everything with damp kitchen role first, the rinse water stays clean enough to use for cleaning work surfaces, etc.

Note: This is the French way to do the washing up on an everyday basis, unless you have a dish machine at home.
You can point out a French in a camp site just by the way the dishes are washed:Smile:
I like the fact you take it for a tip!:sun:

Many of my British friends think I am lazy because I rinse instead of drying! I cringe at their soggy tea towels!

Suits me I hate drying dishes

Do you have the same issue with bath towels and facetowels. Both worse at creating damp air in thevan

Dishwashers rince in very hot water so a lot of it evaporates and the pots are dry. Works best if you don't put it on and go to bed mind 😂

These are good - the washing up liquid goes in the handle.
Had one years. Don't leave it full between trips, it leaks out and makes a gharrrstly mess in the sink 🙄

Our system is stack dirty, wiped, dishes on shelf near sink. Wash dishes in sink with washing up liquid, stack dishes on drainer near sink, rinse each dish under hot tap then stack rinsed dishes onto microfibre dishcloth.

The stacking of the dishes at each stage is an artform in itself !

Same thing happens the way I do it. By the time I have finished washing and rinsing, the first items are dry and ready to put awa.

I really must visit B&M more often (or even just the once). Cracking piece of kit.

Isn't it odd that B&M have ostensibly the same trading pattern as Woolies and even took over some of their old stores, yet Woolies folded and B&M seem to be going from strength to strength ?

But Woolies survived for 100 years. B&M have another 50 odd to go but we won't be here to see it!

Firstly on OP's washing technique: I do something similar, put a squirt of washing-up liquid in a bowl/sink and about 1/2 inch (1.25cm for you youngsters) of water, so just enough to wash the first item, then as I rinse each item the bowl fills up.
Secondly, towel dry or leave to dry: Always towel dry. Many moons ago there was a television series that showed schools running scientific trials and experiments: from developing electric vehicles, to man-powered aeroplanes (other genders are available). Anyway, one school ran a trial on the advantages and disadvantages of towel drying washing up. Obviously the leave to dry won for convenience, but towel drying ended as being the recommended technique for two reasons: 1] the shine left on plates and glasses, and, more significantly 2] the amount of bacteria left on the washing up was greatly reduced by towel drying (and that's why the towel should be changed regularly).

Its a proven fact that air drying is better than drying with a tea towel unless you use a freshly laundered tea towel each time also proven it's the method of washing up that's gets rid of bacteria not how hot the water is
I still scold my when washing up and reuse a tea towel, you just teach stupid can you!

I washup the travellers way, on the hob,in a stainless large washup bowl , rubber gloves on, then stack clean pots into sink, the water gets lovely and hot ,and the pots drain great in the sink, cover withclean tea towel if you are bothered about flies :)

To help with drying the dishes, I've found that the padded microfibre drying mats are fantastic. 😊 We've got the hob beside the sink, so the draining mat goes on to the glass hob lid. As it's padded, the dishes don't slide off it and it absorbs the moisture and it's quick to dry - and take a lot less space to store than a plate rack. 🍽️

B&M again . I know where I'm going on Thursday or Friday this week

I don't waste water rinsing in the van, just wash them up stack on rubber drawing map either leave them to dry or dry with a tea towel depending on what I feel like at the time.

It's a great store for MH'ing stuff 😊
I always end up buying a few things I never knew I needed!!
Most recent finds in there was a clear plastic half-beaker with a suction attachment, which fits perfectly behind our swivel shower wall and it's perfect for holding the soap - all of 59p so an absolute bargain as it's so useful!
Also they sell "handy bags" on a roll - small white bin liners with tie handles - the perfect size for the bins in our motorhome 😊

You are all making me jealous, I have never seen a B&M in Scotland . Grandson works in one in Lancashire. I think I will make a list of all these useful items and send it to him when he asks what we want for Christmas!
