Is there a decent camp site within walking distance/bus ride of the castle.
Warwick racecourse caravan club site is probably closest
Are you sure you want to go to Warwick Castle??
Mike wants to go there, not me
She doesn't, but I do, :Laughing::Laughing::Laughing:
passing on the way up to Chester.
They have Dungeons :Rofl1:
It was very expensive when I went there about 10 years ago.
A bit artificial as well.
It is owned by the same people as Alton Towers etc, and it shows.
Personally I would give it a miss.
Mmme Tussauds, innit?
Day ticket to include Merlin and Dungeons, £50 (or more) for 2 adults.
We have Merlin tickets that get us into everywhere :Laughing:
Including Warwick Castle (good) and Dungeons (shit)
Even up The London Eye, Dawn B sent me a PM :Rofl1:
Do us a favour, take Dawn to see the dungeons, don't worry if she wants to stay, in fact, surprise her leave her there, she'll always be grateful. She loves those sort of places, I take her as often as I can. :Rofl1: :Rofl1: :Rofl1:
Tesco vouchers :thumb::thumb:
I wouldn't spend hard-earned on it.
Nearby is Kenilworth Castle - no dungeons and not a mediaeval theme park like Warwick but it's an interesting ruin. Run by English Heritage, so free if you are a member. Not too dear if you are a regular punter.
There is a CS not far away http://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/campsites/uk/warwickshire/kenilworth/springhillhouse
We went to Warwick Castle, whilst we were staying at the Racecourse site, about 7 or 8 years ago because Jill had wanted to go for a while. It wasn't cheap but I don't recall it being too expensive compared to some places. If I remember correctly we got discount vouchers from the caravan site.
It is a bit plastic but the trebuchet was a laugh to watch.
Better value than anything English Heritage manages - but that may be my prejudice born of experience of working with them :BigGrin:
No idea about the castle - but the racecourse CC site is in a superb position for the town - plenty of shops pubs and restaurants, a spoons and a fab eat as much as u like Chinese ! Went there in November - and will be back there on Sunday for 4 nights:thumb:
