The Truma iNet box uses the 2G network.
Some Countries have already shut down their 2G network and most will follow.
This means the remote setting will no longer work. Truma will not update the hardware and will introduce a new model in time.
So if you are thinking of buying one bare this in mind!

If you bought it from a truma agent they should have warned you. The bulletin in the link will have been read by them.

2033 is my guess for 2G & 3G ‘sunset’ in the UK so not a worry yet, given over half the devices used in Europe are still 2G or 3G

My new van that’s scheduled for delivery later this year will still have the iNet system, and I’m not a jot concerned

Voda are shutting down the 3G network over the next 2 years (in the UK), they're ahead of the game time wise as 2033 is the industry date for killing 3G off (and re-using the freq bands for 4G and 5G), 2G……no end date in sight (for lots of good techy reasons).

Rgds

Any one else remember the warning in the early 2000's that FM radio broadcasts would cease by 2012 ... so get a digital radio soon?
(P.s. got both now but still no audible difference to sound on van speakers! )

All technology is intermediate technology so it is inevitable that our machines will become obsolete

Well the North West of Scotland is way ahead of you Southerner guys! They even turned off 3G \ 4G \ 5G already!:whistle2:

Still available on blue tooth though? I e never installed a SIM card as I only use the iNet when I’m in or next to my ‘van.

Yep Bluetooth works fine - have never bothered with a sim card etc ... can still monitor & control 'locally' (like in the awning or campsite cafe ??!) - have never seen the point of turning the heating on or checking battery volts from 20 miles away! 🤔 😉

I have the capability to use iNet in my van-but since at home it is on the drive and when we are away we are with it I don't see the point. Different if we had to leave it somewhere and needed to check batteries etc remotely-currently I just jump in the van and check manualy.

Yes, I understand that but still be nice to know specifics with a product considering this is a known "issue" and it may be several years here in the uk many of us go abroad where it looks like they are ahead of the switch off here in the uk.

As for using it via the sim card, if others don't make use of that, that's fine, I get that, but actually I've found it quite useful a few times when out and about for several hours and want to turn up the heating / hot water for when we get in of an evening. Much like the hive box at home

About par for the course with motorhome kit suppliers. Don't know which is the worst, Truma, Dometic, Thetford. All flaky, unreliable, indifferent to end users. And ridiculously expensive. Bah!

As you purchased this just before Christmas if it was Truma or a Truma dealer I would be asking for my money back. As Truma say they notified dealers. If it was a fleabay purchase it may be a little more difficult to do.

This was a perma link set up by Truma two years ago it’s harsh I know but like all technology it gets redundant pretty fast, in this case it’s not Truma it’s the mobile network,
“How is Truma dealing with this situation?”
Truma informed its sales partners about the 2G switch-off and its consequences for the iNet Box at the turn of the year 19/20 via print and online channels.
A successor product is also being planned. However, there will be no upgrade of the existing devices.

I thought Three had already turned off 2G. There is some suggestion that the other networks may phase out 3G before 2G because 2G is used by a lot of low data devices and covers areas other frequencies don’t reach.

Not sure Three ever had 2G thought Vodafone and O2 were the only operators to ever have it. Always showed as Edge

On the decision to discontinue the iNet box, Truma says,

The worldwide demand for electronic components is outstripping market availability, which in turn is forcing us to choose on which products we should use the components which are available to us. Please accept our apologies for this situation but please trust that we had no other option available to us at this time.
For any further enquiries, you can call the Truma customer service team on 01283 587960.

I wouldn't worry. Truma have discontinued Inet.

Perhaps Auto Sleeper still have iNet boxes in stock. Our Carthago said iNet ready and I think I paid about £200 for the box, very useful, shame they are dropping it.
