think trying to compete with the big boys, you are unlikely to win.
The traders are one of the big draws, they can only attend one show, they have to attend the biggest one that will earn them the most money.

However to have a Motorhome Fun Rally, the week before one of the big shows, in the same area (roughly the middle of England) and attract as many traders as possible by offering trader pitches at break even rates.

Sorry no, I'm not interested in running Motorhome Shows. Just facilitating Funster gatherings,

Hopefully some of the Warner’s directors are viewing this thread.

If I was one, my first job on Monday would be to have a chat with the office busybody who sent Jim that last email.
Refuse a complimentary marshals ticket and then demand payment . Great way to lose around £45000 in yearly profit. It’s amazing how one individual decision can have drastic repercussions for a company .

I don’t know but I would think large venue for such an event are not ten a penny and not so easy to find.
Definitely a potential problem. We used to have a family history business and exhibited at successful events held at sports arena. A couple of arenas then changed the playing field to make more money so the events had to move. Still worked initially but were never as successful as in more suitable venues.

Think we need to exercise a little restraint here and first let us remember that despite our numbers other motorhomers far outweigh MHF at the Warners shows. Also what is the original mandate set up by Jim and his merry band all those years ago.

I'm in the camp of attending a show, purely to meet up with other Funsters as the show itself is of no interest. As for the "entertainment" !!!!! It was only the need to get out after Covid and overseas travel being next to impossible that brought us back this year.
I'm not at all surprised at the shoddy treatment of long-standing customers, hopefully someone is now out of the job they were getting frightened of losing.

But as for MHF putting on it's own "show" forget it. Jim has made it clear he is not interested and I support him in that. It takes an incredible amount of organisation and could not be done by pure volunteers. You'd still be in competition with the big boys too.
No, just drop support for Warners - nothing to stop anyone going if they want.

Instead a few "super-rallies" spread around a bit, my idea is to develop some of the existing rallies and perhaps a trawl of local dealers to see if they would like to support it - note I didn't say sponsor. Perhaps a couple of those organisers would think about it and maybe add their twopennyworth.

MHF is a unique offering to all motorhomers, whether you want to join or not. Let's not sully everything that has been achieved with the taint of commercialism.

Can i come in my little old caravan to a funfest?

Just because its "motorhome" fun thats not to say caravans are not welcome.
There are a few that have caravans and attend Fun rallies... Our cousin was a member and came with their caravan several times. (y)

In my experience, Caravan beer is the same as motorhome beer..:rofl:

Usually no longer than the walk to empty your bowels in a toilet sat on by hundreds of other bums. No thanks, I will stick with using our facilities which are only used by two bums and cleaned regularly.
Does your wife mind you calling her “Bum” 😂

However to have a Motorhome Fun Rally, the week before one of the big shows, in the same area (roughly the middle of England) and attract as many traders as possible by offering trader pitches at break even rates.

I'd start off small, aim for 100 van's, but ensure it's in a place than can take 1,000, so that it grows year on year.
Show number one will run at a loss, show two might break even, the profit starts at year three or four.

Don't underestimate the size of the job, it's probably a full time job for one person and a part time job for many.
There may be a way of piggybacking onto an existing festival of some type, music, produce, county shows atc.
Which could solve the entertainment issue.

Make it the 'Must attend' event for motorhomers of all types and it could work.
And why do you think Jim might want to do this! We don’t need stalls, we don’t need entertainment, we don’t need all the hassle an organised show would create for any Funsters that volunteered. We just need a venue to camp on and meet friends and entertain ourselves. We already do it at the Warner shows now, some people don’t even go into the show, it’s not always the point.
I would be more than happy to have our own meets, which we do anyway, Thetford Bash, Bring and Buy, Plum Festival just to name a few.

Surely one of the best things would be to organise a get-together at York, we used to love the show on the race course as I'm sure did many others.

To be honest if I had known that Warners had refused to give us a Marquee I would not have bothered with the end of season show .
it a great chance for us all to get together under cover ....
Especially this year after all the lost meets over the last 2 years ...

Dont know if you have noticed or not, Jim. But over the last few years there has been, what i call, mini rally groups arranged by Wombles, Emmit, and more recently polly and Dave. I know there have been many others prior to covid lockdown, march 19, 2 years ago. For those of us who have been on the forum a good few years, the shows are beginning to lose their appeal. Stratford is a good one, none warners, because Staatford is a great location, with Warwick nearby. Im now only likely to do Newbury, close to me, New Forest, small and friendly, and maybe do the run to Chester, but not at Easter. Otherwise, looking at bridport music event, corfe castle, sunshine music event, now back on, all these mini sub events outside the main format of the forum. Just some thoughts.

Not long enough!
Rutland water would take a sizable rally.
As water on smaller, just a couple of water cans and top up daily.

I've only just reread this thread and seen the above,
"Dont know if you have noticed or not, Jim. But over the last few years there has been, what i call, mini rally groups arranged by Wombles, Emmit, and more recently polly and Dave."

I have no problem in being included in the above list of Funsters who organise Rallies for the benefit other Funsters but, and it's a big but, I would not want anyone, especially newbies, being under the impression that my events are closed or not available to EVERY Funster to attend. I'm sure the other Rally organisers listed above would have the same stance.

I have a very non exclusive and open policy when it comes to the availability of places at my events. Everybody sees what is on offer and everybody gets the same chance to put their name down for attendance.
I post this for the avoidance of doubt.

Regards
Emmit

scottie As far as I know, all the rallies are listed in the rallies section of the forum and advertised on threads that are open to everyone. I am not sure why you are calling them mini sub events as they are Fun rallies in every sense of the words.
