Hi there I am very new to this forum and motorhomes, so please excuse my ignorance but this is driving me mad,

I have an old Autosleeper based on a Renault Trafic, my problem is the fridge, it works on 240v, Gas and 12v, however when I turn the ignition on the fridge goes off. The question is should it do this or is there something wrong either with the fridge or me.

The electrical control unit is marked NJ Autosleeper.

Any advice much appreciated as I am away motorbike racing this weekend and a cold beer on arrival Friday night will definately be required.

Thanks
Peter

Hi, thanks for the rapid response.

The fridge is an Electrolux, I switched the fridge onto 12v when before turning the ignition on, when I turned the ignition on the red indicator light the indicator went out.

Sounds like someone has wired a relay up wrong
The 12v side of the fridge would normally only work when the engine is running
This is so that it does not drain the leisure batteries

Hope this makes sense

An investigation confirmed that some unnamed person with a name very similar to mine had swapped the wires round on the relay. now repaired, no more warm beer:Smile::Smile:

Just don't do what I normally do and forget to switch it off 12v, back onto mains or gas, or it will be more warm beer:Doh::Doh:
