Hi,
Our large Remis rooflight stopped working, so I took off the lifting mechanism and found one of the "cables" is totally seized. Remis no longer supply replacement lifters for the vario 1.

I have looked at replacing with a Heiki, which is much simpler, but need to enlarge the hole in the roof, hence this will wait for the better weather.

Have any of you had similar problem and replaced your rooflight?

I am looking for the mechanism for the 900 x 600 unit, but would also be willing to take smaller lifters as spares for our other 2 rooflights, I think these Remis units are good quality and would like to retain as long as possible.

Obviously, I am willing to pay something for these units and will pay P&P.

Many thanks......Barry.

I know the problem, we had it on our Hobby caravan...

Remis used to supply replacements FOC but perhaps in 2014 stopped even replying to emails about the problem..

Last replacements I bought were from Hobby in Ambergate but the guy said when his stock was sold he couldn't reorder... He also offered Heiki push up as a replacement, and said the hole in the roof was the right size but internally the fitting was smaller so you would be able to see the original outline of the Remis rooflight...

I even started to look at caravan breakers to see if they had any to sell but didn't pursue it after I found Hobby at Ambergate...

Hi all, Thanks for the feedback.
I have called caravan breakers, but they informed me that Remis kit goes out as soon as it comes in.

O'leary is the cheapest I have found for the Heiki rooflight, so far - the Remis hole is approx 905 x 605 and Heiki is quoted as 950 x 650.

The "cables" are very specialised, they are like the old pipe cleaners in metal tubes but with a spiral. The worm winder mechanism winds on the metal spiral, so I don't think it would be very easy to create new ones.

Much appreciated.......Barry.

Take off the offending piece then drop it into a bath of coke or mild phosphoric acid then leave it a time to work. When the rust is eaten then soak some oil in there to lubricate it.. Corrosion is lack of protection, plating or lubrication. Bad design intended to make you buy spare parts

Hi, no, I still only have a single cable on mine, has been ok, just been very careful.
Can't find new, so still looking for 2nd hand.
Did consider replacing with the simpler, cheaper Heki, but it means cutting a bigger hole, been avoiding that so far.
The seized cable has been soaked in everything, but refuses to budge.

Have considered that and will probably end up doing ths same.
Is one of your old cables ok, or was it both stuck?

Are there any solutions to this? The black arm that attaches to the light itself has snapped and not able to re attach it. More hope than anything!!
