Rally Chat Want to steward;The Malton Beer Festival 2019. We cant (1 Viewer)

Hi All,

Mary and me have been scouting for a new venue to keep the Funsters occupied next year.

1. We went to Eden Camp in Malton a couple of years ago and had a good time but apparently, it isn't the bargain it once was, and, on approaching the stewards for that meet we were told that the Rugby Club at Malton would be a possibility. We then did a bit of lateral thinking and came up with the Malton Beer festival which takes place in the Milton Rooms in Malton on the long weekend of 17-18-19 May. I appreciate the event for this year is past but here's their website;

   There would not be any problem with any Funsters who wished to go to Eden Camp that weekend as a Day visitor as the Rugby Club is equidistant between Malton Town Centre where the Beer Festival is to be held and the Camp
   
   We contacted the Hon Sec. who in turn put us in touch with the stewardess at the Club who holds the diary.
   
   We made a booking for the week starting 15th May to 21st May (It is of no importance to them that we would not want 'vans on site the whole week, we would be paying per unit, per night. A steward can decide the actual dates.)
   We negotiated a price of £8 per unit per night and that includes use of the showers and toilets. There is a big hard standing car park.
   
   So far, so good and then the manure hit the fan. Big Time.
   
   You may have read on the Mosel Meet thread that Mary and I had to return from Germany in a hurry when our Daughter in Law was admitted to hospital for urgent surgery following an intestinal blockage. During the Op. they found complications.
   
   The result of that is that she has Stage 3 Bowel Cancer and is at the very start of what will be a probably long fight to get back to fitness.
   
   We have taken up residence at Mo and Judys CL and other than the statutory disappearance one in 28 we are likely to be here for some considerable time (The family live in Stafford)
   
   We have very reluctantly made the decision that we cannot continue with our stewardship of this proposed meet but I still feel that the event has legs and could be taken up by another Funster.

You may have seen this thread a while ago. It is about a potential rally to take advantage of the Malton Beer festival which takes place in the Milton Rooms in Malton on the long weekend of 17-18-19 May 2019. Emmit has started to organise it but is unable to continue due to family commitments and so I have agreed to take it forward.

I have discovered since agreeing to do this that the dates coincide with the Bring and Buy Rally which Toledo is organising and many Funsters have already signed up for that. I have no desire to poach Funsters from that. If this goes ahead, @Badknee will be co marshalling it with me. I plan to limit the meet to around 30 units.

If you are interested in coming to the rally please PM me. I will start an “interested” list.

I realise that not everyone is interested in beer. So if I can get a room at the venue (Malton and Norton Rugby Club) I plan to arrange some craft activities, maybe quilting, crochet, knitting etc, and/or Gin tasting or similar. Time to look at this when we have an idea who is interested.

There is also a lot of other stuff to do in and around Malton

So please PM me if interested.

Yes Newbury Southern Motorhome Show ( Warner’s) is 17 to 19 May also.

Yes your quite right it is but we’re not in competition with anybody and with a limit of say 30 units like Chris says it might be of interest to funsters that like smaller meets

As I said, no one is trying to poach Funsters. Much as I would like to change the date, I doubt if the Malton Beer Festival organisers would agree to this to suit a group of Funsters!
