Walking on roof? (1 Viewer)

Planning to give my Tesoro an external deep clean this weekend-including the roof-anybody know if it’s a weight bearing roof, I.e can I walk on it?

Don't recommend it. Spread your weight with a couple of boards across the full width of the MH if you have to go on it. Use a brush with a long handle to clean it.

I am sure someone more knowledgeable of your model will be along shortly but love my old bus as I can walk all over it (but do lay down to spread weight on the front Hump)

Personally I would not walk on the roof of mine, though it is very solid. Just as easy with a long handled brush.

if you are over 60kg, then no, not a good idea. Especially near any skylights or joins unless you don't mind leaks

Been on ours alot over the years, even had three blokes up there at once when they were installing our solar gear.

Walked on mine many times and still not fallen through - it even has plastic durbar like plate on their to encourage a good tap dance. I'm well over a kilonewton btw

The fact that it is Transit based has absolutely nothing to do with the solidity of the roof. That is down to Benimar's construction.

If you can't walk on your roof then store it under cover in winter.
An average 26ft motorhome could have a foot of snow on the roof.... That's nearly 1000kg of fresh snow.....around 12 to 14 men.

But that's evenly spread over the roof. You're comparing apples with pears as an 80kg adult male would exert much more force over his footprints (approx 10kg per square inch when moving).

My new Elddis caravan roof started to collapse under its own weight. There was a dip in the middle of 2cm after just 4 weeks of use.

Thankfully Benimar's are far better built than that, but does any poster on here know exactly how Benimar roofs are constructed, and therefore whether or not it is safe to walk on it?

Caravan roofs are as far from motorhome roofs as you can get with the exception of Hobby and Tabbart.
They have no structural strength..
I drilled the roof on my last one for a TV aerial..... Less than 30mm thick. From inside I could push the roof upwards by hand a visible distance. I wouldn't stand a child on that.

I had a 2014 Benimar mileo 202 .. Marquis sent two guys to look at the roof and they walked all over it... I fitted a solar panel and it felt very solid up there.... only problem i have had on a roof is after polishing I started sliding downhill.
