Hi everyone
We are planning a trip in the summer to Italy for around 12 days. Would like a bit of advise about what's best ferry and route ? Any advise would be grateful.
Thanks

Would that be 12 days in total? There has been a couple of threads recently on here about the trips to Italy and I'm sure you'll get directed to them and there will and is a wealth of advice forthcoming.
Personally, I wouldn't do so far in that time frame as I like a more leisurely time but we are heading towards Italy this year as we've got 6/7 weeks to meander. Might be worth thinking of a destination too
Edit, you have said a destination.
Are you looking to travel direct including toll roads or do you want to avoid? Are you keeping to a budget? Do you want campsites or Aires (if you don't know about Aires, they are easily explained) on the way?
The initial options is the crossing. Train or ferry. Price and convenience will determine your decision
You'll be inundated with suggestions so cherry pick your likes.
Oh, which month as that would also be helpful and have a great time and importantly

Many threads on Italy lately, just "search" for a wide breadth of knowledge.

Ferry - any Dover one will do. Just find the best deal for your size of van.

Very ambitious, Minimum of 2 hard days driving there and 2 back and to join the queues when you get down there. what sort of holiday are you after beach/scenery/lakes/history and you ll get loads of advice for France and being there in a day after Calais giving you 2 extra days holiday

We've done Ca Savio three times (in the car) and Tuscany twice (only 900 miles). We always do it in two days - on day 1 we drive to the French side of the Mont Blanc, and then on day 2 we head through the tunnel really early to avoid the queues. We normally get to Ca Savio at about 6-7pm. We have three little kids, so plenty of toilets stops in that time too!

From Calais with an early ferry arrival I'd estimate two days at the bare minimum - we'd allow three days. Getting as far as you can towards the Italian border on day 1 will be the trick. On that route we usually fizzle out around Dijon/Seurre after a long day's driving. A lot depends on how much you want to pay to cross the Alps too. The Mont Blanc tunnel is direct but expensive. There's a big car park at Chamonix that accepts MHs overnight. Traversing Northern Italy isn't too tough, but a traffic monitoring SatNav will help no end.

Camping Ca' Savio is very handy for ferries to Venice from Punta Sabbioni, a short bike or bus ride down the road. Nice Adriatic beach behind the site for cooling off too - we've been a couple of times and would use it again.
