Well we have hummed and hared should we go to Scotland for September and so that was the plan, but with motorhomes plans change, and after taking the van up to Mochdre to get a new Electroblock, think the electrics in Morocco seen paid to ours, while it was been sorted we went into Rhos-on-Sea, what a lovely place and spent a pleasant couple of hours pottering around.

That got us thinking why not spend September pottering around Wales and what is on our own doorstep but so often gets ignored, so the plan has changed starting Wednesday with a few days at Shell Island then following the Hymers nose to see what we can find, will post some pictures see if we can match Scotland. ::bigsmile:

We were told a couple of years ago that St Fagan's in Cardiff is well worth a visit so when we discovered that the MCC has a meet there at the end of September we decided we would go. Never been to south Wales before.

Hi Carol,
Don't be offended but you can use your bus pass in Wales to get about locally whilst parked up(y)

As an afterthought, if you like your music on CD or vinyl don't whatever you do miss a visit to Cob Records at Porthmadog, opposite the Ffestiniog Steam Railway station. If Cob Records haven't got it, it probably wasn't recorded.

And don't forget, overnighting for one night in seven is welcome in Powys Council Car Parks (for minimal cost), so if your near Brecon there are at least two, one right alongside the river, Hay on Wye for browsing and books and so on.

Neil (1manandhisDoblo) recently alerted me to the fact that Powys Council have recently changed their web site. It no longer specifies which car parks may be used overnight, though it does show which may be used by all vehicles and not just cars. I've asked them to reinstate the information.

Cycling the trail beside the Mawddach Estuary from Barmouth towards Dolgellau takes some beating.

Also, the coastal path from Borth-y-gest round to Black Rock Sands (best around low tide) is lovely, but don't tell anyone else.

Cycling from Dolgellau to Barmouth ;)...

Porthmeirion. Italian-styled village where they filmed 'The Prisoner' in the 1960s. Pleasant walks around the shore and woodland too.

Also - I should have mentioned if you visit Porthmadog the easiest free MH parking can be found at 52.929214, -4.138664 on the roadside opposite Lidl. Everywhere else is a faff or will cost you.

As an offbeat Wales attraction, if anyone out there is into watching/photographing low-flying military aircraft from up a hill, there's a wealth of information about the 'Mach Loop' training circuit (between Dolgellau and Machynlleth) here:

To the best of my knowledge the signs giving the rules and regs in the carparks are still there. I haven't been home for three weeks but Crickhowell and Brecon both had vans on then. (Crickhowell is very slopy so chocks (big) are a must!) I know there is no such word as slopy but you get my drift I'm sure.

Agreed re Mwnt, never fail to see the massive pod of bottle nosed dolphins that play there. Stackpole Quay also good, but whatever you do, you must see St Govans Chapel which is only 10 mins from the Quay, it's mindblowing. St Davids cathedral amazing and Tenby is a must to visit too.

Re St Fagans, very very good, but allow at least 3 hours for it, a lot to see. Cardiff Bay stunning, lots of lovely places to eat and drink overlooking the water. Brecon beacons fab, gower peninsula too. Hope you have a fair bit of time :)

So I believe - that's why a meet there is attractive (y)

Thanks. Hay on Wye has a bit of a slope at the top if I remember rightly :)
