I ran a VW Polo for 3 years(not as a Toad) and was very happy with it.
Check the weight for your train weight.
I bought the 1.3lt engine and steered clear of the 1.6lt as I think the boy racers like them. I went for VW because I had been driving VW Caravelles for years and was impressed by the quality, even after having had BMWs for 20 years.
