Another Votronic question.
I have the attached in a cupboard of our Hymer 544, two solar panels on the roof. I can see that it also has the facility to charge the vehicle battery as well. What wire is required?
Surely it is not as simple as wiring from the regulator direct to the car battery through the bulkhead?
Is there a kit available anywhere? Google doesn't seem to come up with much.
Thanks for any thoughts

I don't think you need to buy and fit the gadget. Run a +ve cable from the starter outlet on the Votronic to the +ve starter battery contact on the back of the EBL. That links straight to the starter battery via a 50amp fuse in the engine bay.

Regarding Brian's comment, the starter battery is already charged by the EBL when on hookup. No need for any additional device.

thanks, so the gadget simply sits between the VB and the LB?

It's that simple. As soon as LB reaches about 13.6 it switches on a trickle feed to VB, or something like that.

Many thanks, this is a picture of the electroblok, so if I understand correctly, a +VE cable out of the starter outlet on the Votronic and into the EBL, presumably into the port 'Solarregler'?
Easy as that?
Please bear in mind I am not the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to things like this!
Thanks for your help all.

No, the solar reglar input on the front of the EBL is to take the input from the regulator to the leisure battery. If you buy a Schaudt regulator it comes with the requisite cable. One is also available from Votronic but it looks as if the installation has been done without it - probably direct to the leisure battery. Not really a problem but if the input goes to the front block on the EBL you can see the solar charge status on the control panel (above the door?). For the starter battery connection, it is normally easiest to go to the starter battery connection on the back of the EBL. This is a screw- post terminal.

You don't need an additional unit as the Votronic is a dual output regulator, I would rewire the outputs direct to the solar input on the Elektroblock, the plug housing and pins are available on eBay and from suppliers like CPC.
Also the cable from the panels looks on the small side looks like mains cable has been used I would rewire the panels while you are at it.

Yes one cable straight to the + side of the van cab battery. No other item required.

so at the risk of repeating myself and making myself look like a fool, it is simply a +ve cable out of the connection marked 'start' in the picture above direct to the positive terminal on the VB?
Bearing in mind the type of question I am asking here, its it honestly something I could do myself?
Thanks for your help it is appreciated.

Yes but fuse it both ends with an in line fuse

By the way the picture shows the regulator stating 10 amp fuse and some one has put a Green blade fuse which is 30amp

Either a mistake, or there has been a serious problem

I wondered about that Eddie. The regulator is labelled as nominally capable of handling 110 watts of panel yet the first post has a picture showing two panels that must be at least 2x80 watts, if not 2x100.

That is my suspicion but you probably need an expert to examine the complete installation.

Just had a look at the Votronic website and they no longer manufacture the SR110; the smallest unit is now SR140 (although Roadpro is still showing an SR100). It is clear from the details that the designation (name) of each model indicates its maximum panel handling capacity e.g. SR140 is good for up to 140 watts. so yours is limited to 110 watts.
