We would like to visit Callander and see (Google) that there are a couple of large car parks to the west side of the town near the Tesco. Does anyone know if either are suitable for an overnight? Many thanks.

Stirling Council web site says not: https://stirling.gov.uk/roads-transport-parking/parking-zones-permits/parking-car-parks/
"Motor home parking is permitted in any Stirling Council car park subject to the relevant pay and display charges. There are no specific parking bays for motor homes within our car parks although the driver should ensure that the motor home is parked within the boundary of one parking bay, ie not overhanging another parking bay at either the back or front of the vehicle and not straddling two parking bays.

It is also worth noting that sleeping overnight in a motor home parked in one of our car parks is prohibited."

I'm not suggesting you should, but people do stay by the river but be aware it floods in bad weather (and I mean REALLY floods - the river takes over).
You can stay at Lade Inn, and there's a BritStop just a mile away. Trossachs Pier 9 miles away on Loch Katrine has moho spaces at ÂŁ10, or serviced at ÂŁ25, and has bike hire https://www.lochkatrine.com/accommodation/motorhomeparking/

We have stayed in the car park by the river several times. Its a nice spot and chinese restaurant nearby. Been quiet at night and the authorities seem to tolerate overnighting though there are signs saying its not allowed.

There are two very good campsites within the south of the town. Callander is such a nice place it's worth the cost.

The trouble with the pier is . . . ÂŁ10 off grid the max length is 6m. And ÂŁ15 for leccy for the night is a lot. But worth considering. Thanks for your help.
You sure about max length DumfriesDik
We stayed there last year 7.0m and their Web site says only 3 unserviced <6.0m, but rest of pitches no limit.

Sorry for the ambiguity. You can stay on the serviced pitch over 6m but it costs ÂŁ15 more. I would be much happier at paying ÂŁ10 and having no services. Shame that isn't an option.

Are you saying it’s an extra £15 above what a 6m van would pay? If so I wouldn’t encourage that, I’d go park in the meadows car park instead.

Yes. Upto 6m you can opt for no services and costs ÂŁ10. The bays only facilitate upto 6m.
Over 6m and you need a bigger bay (obvs) and they come fully serviced at ÂŁ25.

Still ÂŁ10 cheaper than a local club site!

That is very interesting poppycamper , but you can not book that via their website, hence my confusion. The website also says:

Please note that we cannot offer toilet emptying facilities as we are on an enclosed wastewater system.

I would really like to be able to support local initiatives, but it has to be easy and it has to work. It makes me wonder what you get for the extra ÂŁ15!

Thanks for the heads up.

I believe you get leccy, toilets and showers.
Too add to confusion I have just found out the have two motorhome areas. one each end of the Loch. The other being Stronachlachar Pier car park.
As you say confusing Web site.!
Addition... think I would just book by phone to cut out any confusion..

Stronachlachar Pier looks lovely. But the drive there, 10 miles of single carriageway, gulp. Still it is a dead end, can't be too bad, can it?!

Ach stoap worryin aboot that!

They transported this in sections from Inversnaid on Loch Lomond to Stronanlachar by horse and cart back in 1900 after being built in Dumbarton in 1899!
