Just been looking for next year.

We'll just be passing through Austria and don't know how long we'll be in Slovenia so whats the best way to organise vignettes? It seems expensive.
Can you easily get them on the motorways as you start the trip?

Austria, simple just ask for one at the filling station just before the border , think it was 8 euros for a sticker for a week, can't tell you about the other.

From memory, the Austria vignettes last 10 days - but only suitable for vans up to 3,500kg.

That's probably true, I can't remember the actual figures but know it was simple and as we are under 3500 that's all I can advise on:xThumb:

Are you in a a hurry? I've crossed both Austria and Slovenia without the vignette. Takes longer but much more interesting. Just set sat nav no tolls.

Yeah we thought that as well, but didn't think it worth any risk of straying on to a motorway for the sake of 8 euros.

Slovenia is an utterly beautiful country. Really gorgeous. We absolutely love it.
But it's very compact.
There's no real need to go on either of their 2 motorways at all - it's much better to explore by driving and witnessing the wonderful scenery, towns and villages, on their non motorway routes.

Would that work for over 3,500kg?
No Problem, for Slovenia over 3500kg you don't need a vignette it's pay PAYG so makes it easy if you want to hop on the motorway, Austria is easy to get across without tolls.

Mind you you will use more diesel some gradients are quite severe. Roads generally in good condition and much more interesting particularly the alpine area of Slovenia

I suppose the 3500kg refers to whatever is on the V5 document, rather than the actual weight of the vehicle at the time?

We'd prefer not to use tolls but thought maybe we should get it instead of woorrying about getting one if we decided to use a motorway for some reason.
