Vigil

Anyone start watching Vigil last night ? I did and it ramped up the tension and mystery just like in Line of duty. No surprise really as it’s the same production team.
Enjoyed it immensely so far.

We did - really enjoyed it, at first I thought I know where this is going but then as it developed, not a clue!

As our son is a submariner apprentice due on a V boat in the not too distant future this was a must watch.

I don't know how realistic the interior of the sub is, the Navy refused to assist with the production.

Enjoyed it.

Ex commander on the radio today said the subdued lighting would not happen other than at night or in action. Probably for effect. Otherwise he said quite realistic.

I should think the "Fish Heads" will be falling about laughing at the interior set! Entertaining! Certainly be watching the next one!

Be mindful that the set isn’t representative of the real boats.

It isn’t. 😎
He will be very surprised when he gets on his first boat
He will if Vigil is the basis of his expectations. 😎

Indeed! 😎
Looks way too roomy to me. But then I know nothing about submarines.
Massively so.

Cracking drama though. Looking forward to tonight’s episode.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, but a couple of points where the writers rely too much on artistic licence, a) There's no way they would start an investigation with civilian involvement (national security), they have their own force, b) There are very few if any drs who would need to be told cause of death by a non medical person (especially ship's drs) and c) There's absolutely no way any coded or secret message could ever get through the censorship/security system.

But it was good

Thought it was very good, never normally watch the telly but this got my attention. Will be there again tonight...:mask:

I should correct myself inasmuch that the RN do actually require that civilian police are notified as per their Welfare Rules

Apologies, got that wrong

Whodunnit ?

Is it the scheming and nasty XO ? or the nice Boatswain, or the offensive officer, or did the Captain arrange a hit ? or was it orders from above, or did he actually overdose ?
Will be glued tonight
I fink it’s the boatswain what dunnit. Too nice and friendly for his own good. But I ain’t no defective.

I'm enjoying the drama but it's kind of spoilt a bit when they make silly errors like sending people into a nitrogen filled room with a gas mask on, do they not have technical advisors?

We are enjoying this drama, I am impressed with the submarine "stage set" yes probably way too large, too much space etc, but it must of cost a fair bit to build, a lot more than the star ship Enterprise Flight Deck I reckon. :giggle:
I wonder if there are any Black captains or senior officers in the RN, especially on Nuclear subs yet?
I also fail to see how the sub didn't spot the massive tanker, they would have heard it coming from miles away, with their sensitive hydrophones, they needed the lovely Star Ship Enterprise LT Uhura on board, she would have "Hailed" them well before any collision.
Enjoy the show everyone.

We really enjoyed it, not at all bothered about them stretching the artistic licence the Subs too big etc etc it is highly entertaining looking for sub plots and so on and that will do me.

Perfect exampl, if they didn’t stretch the plot there wouldn’t be a story, who cares that the Tanker was invisible.

We really enjoyed it but, the sound recording appears very poor. 🤔

It's easy to fall into the trap of questioning the authenticity of the series, it's an interesting plot.. That's good enough foe me.
