We have booked to see 2 Motorhomes through a broker. Going the 1st and 2nd May. The one on the second is half way down the country so may take a slow drive home and have a look at a few dealers but the 2 we have booked to see any pointers. Wife said where leaving cheque book at home. Which is funny did know we still had a cheque book LOL

Which broker has the motorhomes which you wish to view?
Get your debit card in your wallet but, don't tell the wife

Download Jim's excellent publication about buying a motorhome (it's in the Resources section, dark blue line at top of the page). That will give you a good idea of what to look for. The most important thing to sort is layout; will it suit your style of living.

The golden rule is don't fall for the first one you see - too many people have done that without properly researching their needs (NOT wants!) then lost a lot of cash when they realise the van they've bought is not what they wanted. Don't take any nonsense about "this'll sell quickly so decide now" rubbish. There are plenty of very nice vans about.

And yes, take every opportunity to look at as many vans as possible, there's so many variations.

Good luck!

Try to remember that this broker does very little other than advertise the vehicle & pay the actual seller a couple of grand or so less than the final price.
They can offer warranties but, to be truthful its not worth the paper its written on.
The only dealings I've had with them were anything but positive.

The upside is that you can view many motorhomes on their website & get a feel for the prices & layouts of motorhomes which may or may not suit you.

Take your time in buying, the best one for your needs is rarely the first one you see & do not feel under obligation to buy.

Feel free to ask for more assistance, this forum is crammed full of knowledge, experience & @Jim has got the format spot on.

Good luck...Robert.

Take your time and don't rush it. Try out all aspects of the van and I do mean all, try the bed, sit on the loo, have an imaginary shower.
Make certain that the layout suits you although with all vans there is normally a compromise to be made somewhere.
Ask to see a habitation check certificate and a damp report preferably.
Take your time and enjoy the hunt, good luck.
Norman.

I took 2 years to write my detailed Specification and then another 2 years to find the right one at the right price.

That was my first MH and 10 years ago. I am still happy that I made the right choice and it could be with us for another 10 years having done just 50,000 miles in total

The knack is to buy your third motorhome first!

Layout is everything . . . well 98% anyway as the forecourts demonstrate many make a (very) costly mistake and then sell.

I don't know which route you will be taking but if you are anywhere near Perth, have a good look through the websites for ....
Perthshire Caravans
Scott's Motorhomes
Dixons of Perth.

Last two are within 1/2 mile of each other at the first roundabout on the A9 at Perth when travelling South.

You might see something at one of them that will give you something to compare with your booked viewings?

Good Luck.
