I’m baffled and hoping someone can explain what is going on. Having been off grid for just 24 hrs as you can see my Victron shunt tells me that 0939hrs I had consumed 21.4 AH . Then the sun came out for 10 minutes or so and at 1030 hrs my batteries are all of a sudden at 100% and as you can see from the history diagram the SOC rocketed up which really shouldn’t happen should it ?
By 2 gel 110AH batteries and 150w solar are wired as per diagram and I think that’s the correct set up.
Any thought gratefully accepted .

Depends on how well you set your shunt up it took me weeks to get mine roughly right with Gels due to the long absorbtion time needed to get them fully charged. Percentage still reads a bit high, I work out the SOC from the current used and treat the percentage as a rough guide.

We have been off grid for 3 nights so far in the UK and my batteries are fully charged I have 3 x 78 ah Gels 300 Watts of solar. I think unusually clear sky's getting 5 to 9 amps from the solar never seen that in February in the UK before.

If you go to your history on the app, it'll tell you how many wh of solar you've harvested for each day

Thanks Lenny . I’m in Portugal at the moment but it’s not really full sun today . My settings are as attached .

where would I find that on my history page, cheers. I’m guessing that I’ve harvested around 10 ah today max so far but I know I used 24ah yesterday .The shunt is totally baffling me at the moment in that the batteries are showing 100% and have been all day but the shunt is still showing them being charged at around 2.0 A from solar , surely when they are full they are full. Arghhhhhhhh

He meant history from solar charger if it’s a victron one.
On the shunt, top right it’s a button looking like a wheel. If you press that you will access the shunt settings. Your shunt settings are out, and re sets to 100% prematurely. There are about 4 parameters that you can adjust to trigger the SoC re set. My guess voltage shot up on a bit of sun, and it re set. As Lenny said, this takes some exercise to get it near right. Make some changes and take notes, so you can adjust.
If you post a pic of your existing settings, we could help you to adjust some parameters.
Ps , I’ve seen a 15v plus on shunt history, are you sure your charger suppose to charge that high on gell’s?

If you click on the cog on the top right and then on battery you can then show us your settings.

I’ve been reading past posts and it looks to me that my ‘charged voltage ‘ setting might have been to low at 13v and as Raul states it might on solar have reset the shunt to 100% to soon . I’ve changed the setting to 13.8 volts now to see what happens next.
The CB 520 charger is set to lead acid gel setting - Bulk 14.4 v and Float 13.8.
Grateful for any thoughts on my new settings attached26EACA7B-4002-46C9-A785-1C95EBF0FE5E.png

A few of your setting are out my settings for my Gels below, you also need to adjust battery capacity for age of batteries they loose 2.5% per year.

Just one think I will change there Lenny, “battery starts syncronised” undo; disactivate it. It will reset your shunt to 100% if is temporarily disconnected from power.

I always did have off., thought with it off you had to do manual sync. Does it still auto sync with if off?

Thanks both but I have a different battery SOC screen …do I have the right setting ?

Yes still will auto sync, and it’s better to have manual control to sync if needed. If by accident you loose power to the shunt, that setting will reset to 100% at each start up. Best to be off.

That is the latest version of the app and firmware you have there. It has more options.
I would choose 'keep SOC'. Then the current calculated SOC is retained if the Smartshunt (or BMV) is reset.

That is a new feature. And very welcome.
Something to note .... It is only been added to the BMV-712 and the SmartShunt and is part of the Bluetooth firmware for some reason.
If you have a BMV-700 or BMV-702 you don't get this feature regardless whether or not you have the Bluetooth dongle fitted and are stuck with the lose SOC or Reset to 100% choice. (I always disabled the 'reset to 100%' as well).
But now with the 712 or SmartShunt, the 'remember SOC' is very handy.
