Hi Guys

Need some advice. I want to replace my solar controller with the victron model with Bluetooth dongle to give the availability of viewing the levels on my phone. Now here’s the question , in order to keep an eye on the batteries is the app enough or do you recommend fitting the victron battery monitor too
I’ve got 150watt solar panel on at the moment but would like to add another one so what victron should I buy…
Many thanks
Davie

In short you really need a battery monitor to tell you the accurate state on your battery

I have a victron BMV 700 battery monitor and a Victron 75/15 MPPT solar controller connected to a 150w solar panel. Supplied and fitted by Vanbitz.
The BMV 700 (with BT transmitter) is a superb bit of kit ;)

Edit, you will need a bigger solar controller than the 75/15 MPPT controller if you want to expand to more than 200w. There is a excellent download on the Victron website that allows you to determine the best controller for the amount of panel

Edit again :
Here is the link to the Victron excel sheet https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/software/VE-MPPT-Calc-2_7.xlsx

What size of victron solar controller would you recommend for 2 x 150 watt panels?
