They have asked to see bertie 7 / 8 days before travel so would have to spend a week in newhaven??

For peace of mind, having it ready, you are better off going to a vet local to you. I wouldn’t go more than 7 days before though as they are only valid for outbound travel for 10 days.

There’s a parking spot down by harbour £10 night there is a hight barrier that they unlock to let you in or out not sure what services there are last heard they had emptying and water. Nice pub just down road drive out during day park on front at Seaford free also Normans bay camping and caravan club site 17 miles from Newhaven or 4 miles Buckle holiday park Seaford by the beach walk along prom to Seaford town lots pubs restaurants

There seem to be a lot more vets offering online checks before seeing your pet and collecting AHC in person, on the model of Abbeywell at Folkstone.
This place near Portsmouth could be visited day before departure at Newhaven?

We're getting our cats ahc from abbeywell, seems a pretty good service so far.
