Not so new at motorhoming now, but still learning!
After almost 6 months in Spain (not all in our new Burstener) we are heading back to the UK on Easter Monday via the Santander ferry. Booooooooo!

Can anyone recommend a vets near to or within easy access to Santander so we can get the pupster's passport stamped?

Also we haven't decided where to stop round that neck of the woods so any great suggestions would be most welcome!

Muchas gratias!!

We came back on the Santander ferry mid February and stayed at Navajas - ACSI site and took the dogs to the vet in the next town, Segorbe. The receptionist at the site phoned the vet and made the appt for us and parking was easy on the road by the vet. We then headed up to Haro, another ACSI site and then onto the Elephant Park just south of Santander.

Thanks for that katv. Will look into those sites. You don't happen to still have the details for the vet? As its Easter weekend I need to check when they are open. It seems to be different for each region over Easter!

The vet is called Maria Jesus Gamon Ovejero, the address is Av Constitution, 12400 Segorbe, Castellon Tel: 964712857. She speaks very little English and I had to show her which details to fill in on the passport.

Thanks for that. Much appreciated. We tend to go with everything written down in order to make sure that everyone fully understands what we need.

16 years since restarting
You should be able to find a vet open on the saturday morning but you have to remember that Easter here , Thursday & Friday are holidays so bear it in mind as you are going to be struggling for getting them done within the 5 day window for Easter Monday travel.

Look towards the end of my blog (B on the left by my name) it describes a vet to the west of Santander. Excellent English spoken.

Hang on, quick cut and paste job:

"On the way back we had to get Bertie seen by a vet and on vwalan's recommendation we stopped at the vets in San Vicente de la Barquera (coords: N43.387788, W004.399491, Tel: +34 985870489) where they speak excellent English and we had him wormed and examined for 20 euros which seemed reasonable compared to the prices sometimes charged elsewhere. To get there enter the town from the west and just before the first bridge turn left. The vets are up the road if you turn immediately left again but it is a steep hill with little parking so stay on the road you turned into where there is parking after a couple of hundred yards."

Thanks a lot that's really helpful. We are aware of the Spanish holidays, but they do vary greatly from region to region which is typical of everything in Spain! :)

That is a really good recommendation DevonBeekeeper thank you. We stayed at the Playa de Oyambre Camp site just up the road from S Vicente de la Barquera last Easter after getting off the ferry. It's €18 a night with the ACSI card even at Easter and the restaurant was one of the best we have experienced whilst camping. I notice that there is another Campsite nearby called Camping El Rosal, but not sure if it will be open at Easter.

Anyway thanks for the advice and will fire off some emails and make some calls and let you know how we get on!
