Not so new at motorhoming now, but still learning!
We are leaving Spain next week to head back to the UK. For the last 5 years we have had the pupster looked at by a super vets off the A26 in Landes, in France as we have always been in a mad dash to get home from Spain and have found it a quick cheap route. This year we have more time in the motorhome so are heading over the Pyranees and up the middle of France getting near Calais for the 16th ish.

Please can anyone recommend a vets towards Calais probably taking the route from Abberville? If there is a lovely campsite or aire nearby then that would be a Brucie bonus too!

Muchas gracias!:)

Not exactly on your route but we use the one at Bergues, only a few minutes walk from the aire ( free but no services).

Forges les eaux off the A28 past Rouen, vets in the centre of town with supermarket parking near by. The aire is also in a good location with some good walks nearby.
I will have telephone number and vets name if you are interested

We have used the vets at Le Crotoy, it's at Rue, very nice clean vet and last time we went only charged us 24 euros, took own worming tablet
We have used them a couple of times. You can either book or turn up and wait. Theres an Aldi and Lidl close by too and the aires at Le Crotoy, Quend ( our favourite) or Fort Mahon are nice to spend a day at till you can travel. 2 dogs, €45 and they supplied the tablets.
Dearest one we have been to is Bellac in Limoges, cheapest was next village to Parc Verger ( Oradour sur Vayres)

Morning Alan, we are staying near Blois at the moment. I don't suppose you could please send me the details for this vet so I can book Bailey in? If you could forward details for the aire too that would be great as I left my brand new All the French Aires book in the UK. Doh!

Merci beaucoup!

The vets in forges les eaux is PATTYN Patrick 1 Rue de Neufchâtel 76440 forges les eaux Tel 02 35 90 55 55. . Its in the. Centre of the small town and the nearest parking is DIA supermarket and coach park.
I hav'nt got the aires book here but it's opposite the municiple camping and it's clearly signposted camping cars on entrance to the town and town centre . It has leccie and usual services.
Hope this helps Alan

Thanks Alan for the vet recommendation. We have just returned from seeing Patrick and are now safely installed at the aire here in Forges les Eaux and Bailey is no worse for wear!

I do hope our motorhomes share an aire soon so we can thank you in person!

Bonsoir

Susan and Mike

Ps the aire has electric and water and is only 6.77 euros!

Hi Allan, Can you tell me what you paid at the vets in Oradour sur Vayres. We were there last week and paid 33.35 euro for one dog, which is the most expensive we have ever paid. Last year we had tapeworm treatment for our dog in Belgium and only paid 10 euros. The previous year we had 2 dogs treated in Italy and paid 22 euros in total for both of them - which led me to believe that the vets in Oradour were very expensive.

Having just been stung for e50 for one dog by a seemingly less than competent vet, if anyone is contemplating using a vet in South Brittany I can tell them which of the three in Sarzeau to avoid.

Where was that at? Seems vet prices vary depending on weather . My friend used vet at Mailleraye sur seine and recommended to us. We actually paid double even tho we quoted her charge.
Vet at l'etaple near Le touquet was our dearest. 70 euros for one springer ..... Ouch !!!
Maybe it's the joy of being a springer owner?!

Hi everyone
Really sorry to hijack your thread, but this seemed the best spot to seek some advice, rather than starting a new thread for an old question...

We are in Brittany right now and will be needing a vet in the Normandy beaches area on Wednesday/Thursday for the Pet Passport stuff and wondered if anyone had a recommendation for us. We have our two labradors with us Freddie & Spud and would love to take them somewhere known rather than doing a yellow pages gamble.
Thanks
Steve

If you are still in Brittany and the timing works for you, I can highly recommend the vet in Matignon, Anne Mayaux @ vetinairees du Fremur
easy to find and plenty of parking.

We are now using the vet at the cloth of gold (how is that for a name) it's just outside Calais in the countryside on the D943, 50.850278 1.988611 if you look it up on Google Earth you will see just open countryside as the vets is in a new building. What we like about this vet is there are large parking spaces all around it so with an 8m van we don't have any problem parking it.

Just wanted to say thank you for all the help. We have just used the vets in Mailleraye-sur-Seine and for our two labradors it cost a total of €40 inc the tablets. The aire there is great, costs just €5 and is a two minute walk away.
Thanks again
Steve

As a general rule, the closer the vet is to a port, the more expensive!
