Very sad as Lily our lab/retriever died today (1 Viewer)

Lovely Lily aged 7 had to be put to sleep this morning after diagnosis of a tumour on her oesophagus. She had been unable to keep any food down and went to sleep wagging her tail.
We have got Poppy our retriever, but Lily was special. It's the little nudges which start me off. My mum would have said, pull yourself together. I will soon.

The vet said to me when I had to have my cat pts, it's the quality of life a pet has that matters and I'm sure Lily had the best life ever with you.

My mum would have said, pull yourself together. I will soon.

Pets aren't just inanimate objects, the are part of the family and often are with you more than any other member of the family so when they go it can be devastating but all too often we are expected not to be too upset as it was 'only a dog' etc ... but we all know better than that and feel their loss very hard.

So don't you dare try to 'pull yourself together' ... for the sake of others, it's none of their business how you deal with the loss ... make sure you grieve otherwise it will constantly upset you and make you feel guilty.
