Hi all. Learning lots rebuilding whole rear floor in Mobilvette Driver 52 1999. Seems everything I look at needs attention but I’m keen and learning fast. Got the van for a good price so got to stick with it.

Thanks for the kind words Anthea and I can only hope we get there. The floor is very hard as it’s a sandwich and in all honesty the original is so thin with soft woods that have no resistance to rot at all so much better wood is going in but the weight will go up but no matter as long as it gets done.
One thing lacking are manuals for everything but at the moment too many other things to worry about...

Hi jo662. The vehicle itself is in good nick but the floor is major and rotted out up to the oven. Serviced fridge which is now working very well. Heater now working - took a while to sus ignition. Ordered new hob glass as this one is missing. Got electric step working which was a mission but a good learning curve. Currently on mains hook up leisure battery starts to cook - interesting - will look at that after the floor.
Hope our duck turns into our swan...

All the way from the oven - today used mahogany salvaged from window sills to go all around the rear ally section and rotted bearers removed... just got to keep going.

Info Only- I worked at a Caravan Repair facility in Leyland. When they change a habitation floor they take the back wall off the M'home, remove everything floor level and store safely, make a new floor using the old floor as a template, fit the new floor and then refit previously removed floor level stuff and refit the M'home back panel.

Thank goodness I won’t be going that far as what I see is manageable and after spending around 32 hours at it the floor results are now finalised and the base is sound with 18mm hardwood ply and mahogany bearers.
This has been one hell of a trip but once I get the shower tray back I’m on finals...

You have done well to repair the floor. I had a 6 berth Mobilvette M'home some years back, a lovely van and the floor on that was like a trampoline in between the double dinette, Not damp just ex- factory 10MM-ish plywood unsupported over a long span. More frustrating was the engine battery would completely drain over about 4 days for some unknown reason. As I say quite a few years ago.
