Couple of pics to give a feel for the place. Not sure about places to stop nowadays as the Camp P.A.J i stopped at a couple of times is now closed.

I'll try my luck here. Hoping to visit the palace next year. Can you recommend a campsite to stay on within an hour and having good public transport to the palace please?

I have tried a couple of very close campsites and they say the dates are not available.

Thanks in advance.

Late April or Early June I am hoping to visit. I tried the Huttopia website but couldn’t get it to work. Unless it really is full already?

Thanks Itsmcb for that info and link is much appreciated.

cheers all.

Lots of french campsites do not open bookings for the following year until late Autumn so unlikely to be full just not available yet.

Well worth a visit, two days I reckon. Huttopia is okay, bit pricey but it is Paris.

The Huttopia site is also very convenient for the railway station, the train takes you directly to the Eiffel tower station which we found great for walking around central Paris đź‘Ť

Well worth a visit. Buy your tickets online in advance as the queues for tickets was very long when I visited.

As stated in posts above...We did Camping Huttopia in May 2019, did not book , used acsi, told we could stay if we changed pitches after first night so as to keep acsi price, however challenged that. The walk to station is about 8 minutes , for Paris. Cycled to Versailles Palace, lock bikes out side Hotel de Ville. We bought the tickets for the Palace from the tourist office day before, , guy told us to get to Palace about half hour before opening, so as to view the palace before the coach loads arrived. We walked about 10 miles!!! around the Palace and grounds. Had a cup of tea in the cafe, very nice for €8.50 price included milk.

Thats what we did last year. We booked an online ticket for 10am and it was an easy enough hour to get in from Nonancourt. we had a slight glitch with the parking because the details on Camper Contact take you to the pedestrian entrance whereas the vehicle entrance is on the parallel street, so up to the grand place ,right and right again.

However we were really disappointed with Versailles, the palace was scruffy and dirty, and OK it was the height of Covid but too much was roped off or closed which actually forced people together. The gardens which you have always been able to get into for free have some splendid vistas but were also quite unkempt - we don't mind a few weeds but they just looked like any other public park but more scruffy. We were expecting a full day and stopover in the parking, which was clearly being done but as it happened we were done by about 5pm so struck out for a quieter location.
