hi
Still thinking of changing our van, we are looking at Rapido 9804 plated at 4250 kg
I can see all the advantages but is there any disadvantages.
Thanks
Adam

If that's you in your avatar I don't think you will have the necessary category on your driving license for that weight of vehicle. Would this do you?

It depends on what you have now and whether this suits you.
Are you changing because the current van layout doesn't suit you or just fancy a change anyway, as some people do.
Size matters, where/what is your camping style, wilding, sites, narrow tracks etc. Loads of questions to look at.
Is the payload not enough on your current van?
Then there is always the finance question, how much will it cost you?

We think this van will give us more space & better suited for longer trips. Current van is 3500 kg . The van we are looking at is plated at 4250kg just wondered if there were any disadvantages to this.

One disadvantage is not being able to pay the DVLA more money.
It is also worst in Switzerland as you cant pay buy the annual vignette but have to buy a cheaper version.
You will also be now be able to laugh anymore at the "am i overweight?" threads
A real disadvantage is supposedly having to abide by the french speed limits. (Obviously you should)
And, if youre 70 you may be concerned about your licence (but you have 64 years left on yours by the looks of it)
Your liver may suffer because you can bring copious amounts of wine and beer back now.
That lot should put you off !

not long enough
the most obvious one is that you may not be entitled to drive a vehicle that heavy o_O

you do not declare your age on your membership or what licence you hold

you need a C1 option to drive anything above 3,5T (y)
