Your battery is possibly over charging This could be your hab, or van batteries. Follow the smell and you should find which. It also can be dangerous.

if on EHU disconnect just be sure the mains charger is off. I would also for the moment turn off the gas at the cylinder.

You don't mention the age of the MH if its a few years old it could be as simple as the Air Con needs re-gassing

It is possible that the Alternator has become faulty and over charged the batteries when the engine was running. The Fiat Camper Assist should be able to check if this is the problem. (the battery may have been damaged if this is found to be the cause of the problem)

Hope youā€™re safe and managed to park up away from anyone else and away from any sources of fuel. Really hope you can get this sorted.

If Camper assist come it will likely be the RAC or AA I believe. Make sure they check the leisure battery as well as the cab battery.

Where is your leisure battery ? Is it within the hab area in a underfloor space ? I had the exact same problem and the old lead acid battery set of the CO2 alarm . I was convinced it was rotten food in the grey tank but I finally worked out it was the battery .
Please be careful and try and see if the smell comes from near the battery

Please be very aware that your problem may not have gone away, a very explosive atmosphere may become present again....ventilate your van and extinguish all naked lights, including the fridge auto ignite...for some reason you may have, like others have said, an overheating battery...even if you changed the battery, your charging system may do the same with a replacement ..its important to take your situation seriously. Stay safe is the most important factor here..
