van conversion
Hi. This is my first post and first motorhome.

But I may of made a mistake already buying the van. It’s registered on the v5 as a 16seat minibus weighing 5t. But it has just had an mot as a minibus and with only 5seats including the drivers.

My question is can I drive this with a category C license? I can

Can't you take the other seats out and get it registered as a van with windows while you convert it I am sure some one on here will know

Thanks. That’s what I’m hoping, but I haven’t been able to find any information on that

if you have a c1 on your licence then yes you can drive it.
when did you pass your test , if before 1997 you will have it.
Ive just bought a 17 seat transit, 4.1t

Hi, I did my license after 97 but I’ve done a lgv license. because it’s over 4.5t and registered with 16 seats it’s confusing matters. Thanks

As its registered as a minibus I think you need D1 category.
If you have 'grandfather rights' you will have D1 anyway.
It's the same with your C (HGV)... You can't legally drive a coach or bus as they are cat D
