Van conversion

I’m a newbie
Hi all, I’m new to the forum and to van conversions,, something I have always wanted to do so managed to get a VW Crafter and have started with our plans to make it into a 4 berth camper. Everything has been going well so far, i have cut the panels out and installed the windows, however today is first time we have had rain and :( there leaking from the top, I don’t think I put a thick enough continuous bead of adhesive round to fix the window to - do I have read I need to take the windows out try and get the most of the sealant off and start again, is there any tools which would make this easier as iv tried a long Stanley blade but doesn’t seem that strong and took a while to break the seal?

Gutted but hopefully I can save the windows and re-install

Sounds like you are using the wrong "gunge". For things you need to take out you use non setting gunge. Hodgesons for instance.

I've sharpened a hacksaw blade in the past to give me a long knife/

Try a sharpened wallpaper scraper and plunge it in rather than trying to cut the sealer.
Push it in, ease it out, move along and push in again then repeat.

Great thanks, il give that a try.

At this point I am a little concerned about removing and trying to reseal, does you have any idea how much it would cost a windscreen repair company to correct for me?

Are they glass windows or seitz windows that you've fitted? If they're just glass windows then you can get a tube of puraflex 40 black from Toolstation and mask it up and simply pump it down the edge of the windows making sure that you wipe it off with a wet finger and clean it off any paintwork.
Get yourself some UPVC frame cleaner (also from Toolstation) to clean any residue off.

They are glass windows, would it be worth masking the inside and pumping loads from the inside, and mask the outside and try and pump some into the gaps there also?

You only need to do them from outside ...mask around the paintwork and use the frame cleaner on paper towel to wipe excess from both glass and paintwork...couple of mins to mask up ?two more to put sealent in/on then two more to clean ??
Seeing as you have not done it before allow yourself 15 mins on a window ?
