After months of research and viewings there was only one van we both agreed on, itā€™s the Dreamer Living Van

Welcome.

Viewing the photo of the day thread over the course of a couple of weeks may well help with decision making as to where to go !

A newbie
Congratulations. We were in the same position in August. Have managed 5 weeks in Germany and a couple of UK trips since then. Fantastic fun and a very steep learning curve. My advice, for what it is worth.

1. Do not purchase piles of gear in expectation of what you will need. There are only a few basics that are essential.
2. Take as long as you need at handover. Essentials are electrics, heating and water. Video those parts of the handover and insist that everything is demonstrated to you. Donā€™t sign on the dotted line until you are happy.
3. I strongly advise reading the manuals. Photograph all electrical and heating components with make and model number visible. This allows you to refer to photos, when querying anything, from the comfort of home. Really important to know exactly which B2B charger, battery, control panel or solar controller you actually have. Also makes answering your queries a lot easier.
4. Live in the van for a couple of days on your drive ( if lock-down ends on a local site). Check and double that everything works and you know how to use it.
5. The search function on this site is solid gold. There are few problems that have not been encountered, and resolved, by others. The details will be here somewhere. The inhabitants of the site are incredibly knowledgeable and extremely generous with their time. They are also persistent and never leave a newcomer floundering.
6. YouTube is your friend. Someone. Somewhere will have encountered your issue and probably posted a video of how it was resolved.
7. Just ask. No such thing as a stupid question. You will have to learn a different vocabulary and skill-set. People are are willing to help on here, on an aire in France or a Stellplatz in Germany. Even in a lay-by in Belgium.

:pink: My essential, gift, not purchase, is a folding step/stool most frequently used item in the van. Exciting times.
