van conversion
Hello just picked up our first CamperVan and because we are travelling with our lab Louie who we have realised really sheds terribly in the van, what vacuum cleaner is most effective please? Thanks!

:hiya2: w2f If you search vacuum you get threads like this

As always on this forum loads of advice.

Cheers

G Tech.
All Dyson products are so over priced. IMHO
..and badly made too, as least our rollerball whatnot is, clever design, but everytime I use it, it feels like it's about to fall apart

We have a small, handheld cheapo 12v item for the moho, works well when away, but need something a bit more powerful for when we get home.

All Dyson vacs look fabulous in the showroom, with all the sparkling coloured see though plastic bits. Use them once and they look discusting - a mucky brown mess.o_O

We tried one and it was dire so I now have a Makita 18v one as I’ve already got batteries and charger 😊
What a great idea. I have the De Walt system and they too sell a portable vacuum. An obvious choice when you think about it. Except until your post I never did...

Another vote for G Tech handheld with the free car cleaning kit. We have a moulty X lab too. Was cheapest on their own website when we bought

Ann likes our little Black & Decker cordless thing. Personally I wouldn't bother while away and just use a dust pan and brush... But she insists 🙄

We had a suck off between my mothers gtech and my Dyson. Hand held. No contest what so ever, the Dyson won effortlessly every time. It must be at least twice as powerful. Dyson are expensive but as with all things, you get what you pay for.

The trouble with a vacuum when you have dogs is that unless you get one with the 'roller beater brush' it won't usually pick up much of the dog hair so if you go for a handheld make sure you get the beater brush with it - we had a cylinder vac once, supposed to be meant for pets, it just about threw the carpet round the room but left the dog hairs on it so took it back and got upright which worked perfectly.

We have 2 dogs and take our removable rugs out and give them a shake then brush out the vinyl floor with a dustpan and brush, if the rugs have some dog hairs left on them we use a rubber hand brush which soon gets them off.

I tested every cordless vacs in Currys and nothing came close to the Dyson v7 /// literally emptied the muck out of bins, went over twice with each vac then with the Dyson which picked everything up with one sweep //// The v11 is simply awesome and even puts the v7 to shame,no contest! The v7 was relocated to the van,not that it's been or done anything for a year 😳if money no object V11 👍

Sometimes it’s difficult to see the wood for the trees isn’t it 🙄😊

I use one of those little push along carpet carpet sweepers. collapse able handle makes it easy storage. Great with dog hair and crumbs. Also us a little brush to get things out from where the carpet meets the units.

We used our old Dyson cordless ,sits in the wardrobe and charged as we are always connected to mains electric ( except when travelling of course )

Just like to add, we have had our dyson for around 4 years now and it has never let us down. Since we’ve been full timing (9 months) the Dyson gets used at least once a day, sometimes twice daily. 👍
