Hi campers,
Do any of you Vor your motorhomes in the winter and is it OK for insurance purposes. We have both had hospital operations that prevent us from traveling for a few months so i am thinking of Vor- ing the van till about June when the service and MOT is due.

Does this mean the same as SORN?
If so, yes we've done this in the past, although more often we've SORNed the car when away on a long motorhome trip.
You should really keep your insurance up as you still need cover for accidents, theft etc. Let your insurer know; you're OK to drive to an MOT without tax.

Yes, it's so easy on line now that I will SORN any of the vehicles if I'm not going to use them for a few weeks .... it costs nothing and I don't see why we should pay when off road.
The government must be loosing a load of cash because of this so I expect they will soon get wise and put a stop to it.

Yes I do if I've other committments and know the van's going to be idle for a while, but I only tend to do it when it's due for renewal as it was at the end of October, so I did.

Might be advisable to check the fine print of your insurance first.
I think some insist the vehicle is taxed at all times.
Certainly worth checking

Usually we SORN our Moho from October till April but this year taxed it through but as it happens this year, father in law has been taken very poorly so evenings and weekends are taken up with visiting and unable to get away. We had made plans for the odd week and weekend escapes but, typical, life gets in the way.

We have not used the van since the Goodwood Revival and a wild camping meet in September.
But over the last five years we have headed south in September for three months ending up in Spain for the good weather, but with a couple of health issues and more doctors appointments in January fingers crossed we may be able to travel sooner but still have the Mot and Service to think about in June.
