I have Tesco vouchers which are about to expire so I want to convert them to Eurotunnel. The question is - if I do this is there a time limit before I actually buy the tickets? We're not sure when we are travelling yet, it depends on Covid, but probably not until mid-March.

Last time I used Tesco voucher’s to bock a crossing they were good for 12months and they did will allow a change of date at no cost,

Just booked a tunnel trip tonight using Tesco vouchers. Ordered the vouchers online from Tesco web site. Had code back within 15 minutes. Opened up a Eurotunnel account and then booked. The note with the code from Tesco said it would expire 27/07/2022, so 6 months from requesting to "cash in" the vouchers.

AFAIK the below still applies:
  • When you exchange Clubcard coupons for an ET reward voucher (sent to you via email) it will be valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of exchange so you have to use it within that time to book crossing(s) (they may have extended this due to Covid though so check their T&Cs to be sure).

  • With ET you can only use reward vouchers to book a single 'outward' crossing from the UK or a 'return' (ie outwards and inwards at the same time); you can't do an 'inward' on it's own.

  • If the cost of your ET reward voucher is less than the Clubcard coupons then the excess will be converted back to points credited to your Tesco Clubcard account (a good way to extend them for 2 years!).

  • Before you exchange check the cost of the ET crossing(s) you are interested in so you know how much you need to exchange for your crossing(s) at 3 x face value.

  • Make sure you have enough saved up if you want to cover the full cost before you convert them as ET will only accept ONE deal voucher per transaction; if you haven't got enough then just exchange what you have and pay the balance by credit/debit card - you will NOT be given anything back if you exchange more than the crossing(s) will cost.

  • Check if there is a limit on the value of a reward voucher that ET will accept (some ferry companies for example have a limit of £110 per crossing).
  • Once you make actual bookings, even if you change to later dates, you MUST make the crossings within a year of the date of the first booking, eg if you book a crossing for 1st March 2022, you'd have to actually make the crossing(s) by 28th February 2023.
If anyone has any updated info on this please feel free to amend it!

We recently booked with Tesco vouchers. You cannot use them to pay for anything other than the "Standard", non-refundable tickets. No validity for "Standard Refundable", "FlexiPlus" or insurance.
