Using scooter abroad

    Hi, we are off to France in a few weeks on our first trip aboard and will be taking our scooter with us in the garage but have a couple of questions please.
    1) do we need to carry the log book (v5) with us at all times when on the scooter
    2) should the scooter have a GB/EU sticker or number plate

    In theory, yes to both questions. I always carry the V5 plus a photocopy. I take the copy on the bike but keep the original in a safe in the van. I was once asked for it even though the bike was in the trailer.

    Yes, I was once stopped at the Spanish border and had to produce V5 and insurance certificate for a Smart on a trailer.

    We carry (on the scooter) a copy of the V5 and insurance certificate. I read somewhere that this a legal requirement in Spain and not being able to produce these documents, resulted in a fine. Possibly applicable to other countries as well.

    A small GB sticker is fixed to the rear mudguard, available from Halfords.

    PS. Also carry a copy of the road tax confirmation letter.

    I took the log book and whacked a small motorcycle GB sticker on the rear mudgaurd at the bottom.

    I don't think a Hi-viz jacket is a legal requirement?

    in france you either wear them or must have them for rider and passenger . google riding a motor bike in france .
    its enough to put anyone off ever going there on a m,bike .

    Yes quite correct,OP,you don't need a breathalyzer but if you do I have loads of out of date ones you can have free!

    Technically you do legally need to carry a breathalyzer but as there is no penalty for not carrying one, nobody bothers.
