we have a 2018 autotrail with an external aerial point. How do you make it pick up the external aerial as opposed to the Maxview roof aerial. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

Just need a TV coax lead with the relevant plugs on each end and a campsite which provides a TV hookup service.
Connect to the vans socket and campsite hookup point and away you go.

Ignore the above, I just realised what you mean.. I think.

You may have to swap the input coax at the signal booster or there may be a switched splitter box to select which one you want.
All depends how it was installed.

I fitted my own so it had its own socket behind the TV. Unplug the roof Lead from TV and plug external lead in.

Not sure if it’s the same but we plug into a different plug at the tv point (behind the tv) we plug into SAT when we use the external aerial and something else (think it’s TV or ANT) when we use the onboard aerial.

Never have to switch anything on the booster.

I have two input wires by my booster/splitter. Permanent connection is for roof aerial, other one (hanging loose) is external point.

That way both my TVs can get the chosen source.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Our van has a permanent fixed coax input in one of the external lockers and so you plug the coax lead to that and the camp site post. The Tv is flip down so no alternative coax cable to swap in. Similarly by the Maxview booster there are no wires to swap over. I am assuming there must be a switch somewhere but beggared if we can find it. Options on the tv are Dtv, satellite, av, dvd, hdm1, USB.

It's probably been wired but never connected so it looks like you have an easy option and a more difficult one and an almost impossible one then.
Impossible one.... Find the unused cable, put a plug on and leave it next to the booster
.
Difficult one..... Run a new coax between TV socket in locker and booster.

Easy one.... Don't do anything.

Are you sure it’s not permanently connected?

So aerial and external are joined before booster.

!!

I did wonder if it was automatic but not sure how to tell.

You have been very generous with your time. Thanks to all.

The DTV setting on the TV will, almost certainly, be the roof aerial. Have you tried the satellite setting on the TV as I believe the external input point is supposedly to connect an external standalone satellite dish, could be wrong though (well, probably:rolleyes:)! If it is for a standalone sat dish don't think the satellite tuner built into the TV will pick up terrestrial TV channels. Also surprised it's a coax input (if for sat) as they're usually "F" type connections.
