Well travelled
Currently on west coast of Highlands at Achiltibuie. On our travels we've seen fewer UK registered motorhomes and campers but lots of Germand and some Dutch.
Is everyone cutting back on travelling now ?
We have as we're planning trip south and possibly Brittany in September.

They've seen the weather forecast and gone south. That's what we are doing. A few nice days are due in the far northwest but after that normal service will be resumed

Quite a few German vans down in Pembrokeshire this last week.

In days gone past I might have travelled within an hr from home for 2 days but with the cost of fuel now I won’t go away any less than 4 nights now.

Don't blame them. Excellent choice of holiday destination. Love it there.

That's a great wee camp site with a well stocked shop. The pub across the road is worth a visit too. Love it up there.

We spent 6 weeks on the Islands and West coast in May/June. German and Dutch registered MH outnumbered Brits by 2 or 3 to one - sometimes more. Very few French registered though.

We own a static caravan van up in Fort William , loads of Dutch vans on the site , speaking to a few they mostly seem to be heading to Skye via Mallaig and back to mainland via the bridge .

By the time I’m home today I’ll have driven over 500 miles for two nights away at a couple of music gigs I booked ages ago plus meeting some friends I last saw in 2017. I’ll work out the costs later once I’ve refuelled etc, but it will have been worth every penny. (Apart from the extra miles wasted when I left something behind at my friends!)
I’m definitely considering fuel costs, but ( within reason of course) I’m keeping using my van as much as I can. Though some trips will be closer to home. None of us know what might affect our personal options to travel at any time and I don’t want to find I’ve wasted opportunities. The lady in a small moho who I was parked up next to on Friday had lost her husband, then the man who later became her partner, and then her mother. She was out on the road continuing to make new positive memories in the van she’d shared with her late partner and I greatly admire her for it.

You will probably find most brits are travelling abroad this year to guarantee the weather , but lets face it no one comes to beautiful Scotland for the weather it's for the scenery and the friendly people.

I'd guess continental m/hs aren't coming to the UK for the weather whereas Brits do the exact opposite!

We've done fewer miles and nights over the last year or so but that's been down to covid and other health issues. TBH I try not to worry about the cost of fuel but am reluctant to travel any distance now for less than a proper break, 5 days minimum.

Fuel - £128
Gig tickets - £47.25 (an absolute BARGAIN! The bands were fabulous, and this cost also included one very nice meal.)
Accommodation - £0. I was able to stay in an out of the way corner of the venue.
'Sundries' - ie. largely non-essential spend at the services en-route(!) and two of the band's CDs - £37
Still a very economical way to enjoy an excellent weekend.
