Off soon and I have no idea from my bag of adapters which one would be commonly used in France and Germany. I was sure I saw a chart on the web that showed which was which was buggered if I can find it on my phone browser....

If someone can point me to a link I can see about printing it off!

Muchos. Thanks.

In France, be sure to position the gun to one side so that the weight of the gun helps tighten the adaptor. If you position it the wrong side the weight can loosen the adaptor allowing gas leaks.

You mean the German one the French one has to be fitted with the filler gun it is not a screw thread.

My French adaptor screws into the van, and provides a disk for the gun claws to fit into. See post No 2

The adaptor has a screw thread so the weight of the gun on the wrong side could cause loosening of the adaptor, thus a leak, is what I understand.

So if the weight of the gun is at the 3 o'clock position it tends, by gravity, to tighten the adaptor thread, whereas if the weight of the gun is at the 9 o'clock position it tends to unscrew the adaptor.

The German adaptor is the threaded one the French one is a dish
I thought you were referring to the actual pump connection rather than the adapter to van connection, as you had specifically referred to the French one.

Which is threaded into the standard U.K. bayonet fitting. I took it that it is the possibility of the adapter (any adapter) unscrewing from the U.K. bayonet if the filling gun puts pressure on it in an anticlockwise direction is what was being drawn to our attention.

I didn’t ‘select’ any part of it, I replied to what you originally posted before editing and adding to it.

Just to clarify, I was referring to the connection between adaptor and van. The French gun can be attached in any clock face position.
