Im reasonably sure that at least three of those have the same connection at the 'object' end and a usb at the other...

OK Hilda, now I have my netbook up I can answer you properly.

What you want is called a USB hub.

In my experience the ones branded "Belkin" are the best.

The hub plugs into your pooter USB port.

The other end will have anything between 3 and 6 connectors.

The pooter end of your leads is always the same this is the end that plugs into the hub.

Some items will not work on a hub though this is rare these days. In the past printers and scanners can be iffy on a hub but in recent years all mine work ok.

Price depends on quality, a cheap one will cost around £4. I would pay the extra for a Belkin one.

Hope this is clearer for you. ::bigsmile:

No its not a hub

Each device has at one end a USB terminal and on the other a different type of terminal. Looks like they are made for each device.

Sorry Hilda it IS a hub.

The odd end of your lead plugs into your device. e.g. a camera.

The other end is common otherwise you would not be able to plug it into your computer.

This is the end that plugs into the hub. :thumb:

Looks like what you are after is what you have already got, but shorter.

No, I've never come across a multiple USB data connector set.

It's a real pain I agree. A stupid real pain the the neat mini-USB connector is small enough for any device. Kindle are just perverse altering it by a tiny fraction.

And while we are on a good RANT, chargers, why have I 20 wall warts here and all different !!!!!

I would be concerned though if you attached multiple devices would they all work correctly bearing in mind as i said some devices do not even like hubs?

if only for charging, then the multi end does it

If for data connection then the USB hub is the only real option

Perfect solution doesn't exist yet that im aware of, but i would love to be corrected on that

Even the so called standards arent always the same, mini USB as an example, some manufacturers change around the data pins so they dont work with others using the same type of port...gits!

Know exactly what you mean, I carry a bag of leads around for this purpose. I did get some adaptors from Lidl a while back, in a kit with a mini mouse and a numeric keypad etc, about a tenner. I also got some adaptors, designed for phone charging from Poundland. They are fully wired so can be used for data transfer as well as charging. The Kindle one is a real weirdo and I haven't found an adaptor for that yet.
