Hi,
I have purchased a combined usb and cigarette socket (side by side) unit. My intention it to locate it in the saloon area of my MH for convenience. I was thinking of taking a feed from a nearby 12v power to a light.
However, I am now thinking, is it ok to do that? and what gauge cable to use and should I attach an inline fuse??? I appreciate it would only be live when the lighting circuit is on at the control panel, but that's fine.
Any sound advice?

I suppose it depends on the power available to the light circuit.

If not LED then it will probably support your USB but not the cigarette lighter side. I'd put in a 3 amp fuse first to see how it handles it. Even if LED the circuit will be fused so if you do overload temporarily it will blow and you'll have your answer.

Try it. Start low on demand and fusing and go from there.

The cig lighter part will need either a 10a or 15a fuse depending what it's rated at.
It will need thicker wiring than the lighting circuit so will need supplying from somewhere else rated at the same amperage.
Link the USB part to the same wire, to save extra wiring, with a 5a fuse.

Thank you for your replies. It's always difficult to A)find a suitable location to site the new outlet. B) find somewhere accessible to wire it into etc.
It would be a lot simpler to put in a simple USB socket (with hindsight). It's only to charge a mobile as and when so want to keep it as simple as possible.
Appreciate the advice.
