Just recieved an e-mail from a pal I'm going to see in the states in November.

Gas (petrol) £1.70 per gallon.

If only here eh!!!!

UK gallon is 4.54609 litres with the US gallon slightly less at 3.785411784 litres.

At £1.70 a US gallon makes it a complete joke compared to what brits have to suffer.

And they are moaning like heck at paying so little.

Unless you have a regular supply of used chip oil (which would need filtering of course), there is not such a great saving to be made as what people believe. Just cost out the cheapest veg oil at your local supermarket.

Also it's not a particularly good idea to use without mixing into diesel, so the actual net cost saving you make in the end is quite small unless you are knocking up a 500+ miles a week.

until chips have been fried in it it is straight vegetable oil off of the supermarket shelf, had I meant that I would have said so!!!!!!!!! Wholesale price of veggie oil is in fact around 90p per litre. It is not a matter of doing 500 miles per week in a car but being able to afford 1500 mile trips in the motorhome at 19mpg.
